St. Paul's Benevolent Educational & Missionary Institute Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team!
Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant is a well-versed accountant and analytical thinker with excellent organization skills and a drive for results to be a critical part of the Treasurer’s Office in serving St. Paul’s Benevolent, Educational and Missionary Institute, Inc. The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller. The position will be responsible for supporting the Controller and CFO in carrying out the financial and administrative related responsibilities of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conduct month-end closing process including financial statement preparation and budget to actual analysis
· Communicate with other Province institutions in order to analyze financial statements and ensure compliance with organizational reporting requirements
· Prepare weekly cash flow activity reports
· Prepare budgets and assist in the annual budgeting process
· Ensures the complete, accurate and timely recording of journal entries
· Reconcile balance sheet accounts
· Evaluate current processes and internal controls and recommend improvements
· Interface with accountants/bookkeepers for annual audit/review.
· Ad hoc projects as assigned
Requirements:Desired Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years work experience required.
· Experience working in non-profit accounting strongly preferred.
· Extreme flexibility with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate multiple priorities.
· Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
· Excellent written and oral communications skills; must be able to communicate ideas and issues effectively and concisely to all levels within the organization.
· Strong understanding of GAAP, particularly for non-profits.
· Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) and an aptitude for learning new software required. Familiarity with AccuFund a plus.
· Advanced knowledge of Excel required including Vlookups, linking cell/tabs across workbooks, if/then/else functions, converting CSV files to Excel, etc., and uploading and downloading files between different financial systems.
· Must be able to work flexible hours beyond the normal schedule when necessary.
