Position Overview
First Coast Habitat for Humanity is seeking a motivated and creative Communications Intern to support marketing, branding, digital communications, and community engagement efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, content creation, brand management, and public outreach. The role is structured for approximately 180 total hours, providing meaningful project ownership and professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
ReStore Social Media Support (~3 hours per week | Approx. 30–35 hours total)
- Capture engaging photos and videos on location at the ReStore (5800 Beach Blvd)
- Develop and schedule weekly social media posts to promote merchandise, sales, and community impact
- Collaborate with staff to ensure content aligns with brand voice and marketing goals
Hicks Prep Club Branding & Marketing Updates (~5–10 hours per week | Approx. 40–50 hours total)
- Update and refine branded collateral materials (flyers, brochures, digital assets)
- Assist in planning and organizing social media content calendars
- Ensure brand consistency across platforms and communications materials
Home Database Updates (~50 hours total)
- Update the internal home database by adding property data and links
- Review entries for accuracy and consistency
Website ADA Compliance Review (~20 hours total)
- Conduct a review of website accessibility standards
- Add alternative text descriptions to all website images to improve ADA compliance and accessibility
Photo Drive Organization & Archiving (~50 hours total)
- Organize and label existing photo folders for clarity and usability
- Create structured parent folders by year with appropriate subfolders
- Develop a streamlined system for ongoing photo storage and retrieval
Volunteer Engagement & Leadership (~ 10 hours total)
- Participate in A Brush with Kindness and other volunteer initiatives
- Assist in leading volunteer experiences and supporting event coordination
Community Representation (hours integrated throughout internship)
- Support staff at community events and outreach opportunities
- Speak about First Coast Habitat for Humanity and its mission to community members and partners
- Represent the organization in a professional and enthusiastic manner
