About This Position
The Forman School is an independent co-ed boarding and day college preparatory school for students in grades 9-12-PG who have identified learning differences. We provide nursing care in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion. This role will include, but is not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation of the students, plan of care, medication administration, and providing a safe and warm environment for students.
Full Time: 40 hours/week (2:30-10:30 p.m. and includes some weekends)
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the Connecticut State Nursing Act while adhering to all facility policies and procedures
- Administer daily controlled and non-controlled medications as prescribed.
- Provide emergency care to students while on campus as outlined in nursing protocol, using nursing assessment skills
- Monitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Thorough documentation of all nursing visits and follow-up care provided for admissions or temporary admissions
- Accountability and responsibility for each student admitted until transfer of patient care or shift change
- Perform routine nursing care while using age-specific and universal precaution practices at all times
- Communicate with Forman School colleagues, students/patients, and their families as appropriate, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Punctual and dependable
- Be able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment
- Collaborate with all members of the healthcare team, faculty, and athletic trainers as needed
- May require transportation of students to and from appointments. PSL must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Maintain active CT registered nursing license and current BLS certification
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Must be physically able to respond to any emergency within the Health Center or outside of the Health Center, including moving a patient if deemed necessary
- standing for prolonged periods of time, some lifting < 50 lbs, bending, reaching.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in nursing
- 2 years of related experience preferred
- Provides the highest level of nursing care for all students/patients. Demonstrates excellent communication skills
- Demonstrates a caring and compassionate attitude
- Possess a high degree of professionalism
- Demonstrates a high level of organization and attention to detail
