AWS Software Developer (Cloud / DevOps) w/ CI Poly in Fort Washington, Maryland at Strategic Business Systems

Strategic Business Systems, Inc. (SBS) is expanding our partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and is seeking well-rounded Software Engineers with strong cloud and DevOps experience to join our Professional Services team.

This role blends application development with cloud engineering and automation. Youll work across a variety of mission-focused projects, partnering with AWS technical teams and customer stakeholders to build, deploy, and sustain scalable, secure solutions in AWS environments.

Our team supports high-visibility programs where engineers are expected to own solutions end-to-endfrom writing code to deploying and operating it in production. If youre comfortable working across the stack and enjoy solving real-world problems in fast-moving environments, this is a strong fit.

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable applications and services in AWS
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support efficient, reliable delivery
• Automate infrastructure and deployments using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Develop and integrate APIs, microservices, and distributed system components
• Work across development and operations to ensure applications are production-ready, secure, and performant
• Support containerized workloads using Docker and orchestration platforms (ECS/Kubernetes)
• Troubleshoot issues across development, test, and production environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned to customer requirements
• Participate in Agile development processes, including code reviews and technical design sessions
• Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency

• U.S. Citizenship
• Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
• Experience in software engineering with exposure to cloud-based environments
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, IAM)
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automated deployment practices
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and modern application architectures
• Working knowledge of Linux environments and scripting
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across the full development lifecycle

• Experience supporting multiple projects or working in consulting/professional services environments
• Background supporting federal or defense customers
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices and secure pipeline integration
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (CloudWatch, ELK, Prometheus, etc.)
