WRMA is currently seeking a Junior Research Associate.
Under General direction support the work of other Researchers and project managers performing research and evaluation related functions: assure high quality implementation and capturing of outcomes and impacts of program initiatives; provide continuous high-quality support to enhance the mission of the company by developing, capturing, and communicating useful and usable research and evaluation information for clients. Provide support to the research division in carrying out the research functions.
Responsibilities
DUTIES
- Assist in implementing the Research Division’s mission, objectives and work plans.
- Implement appropriate research and evaluation strategies.
- Support development databases and oversee data entry, checking and creation of standard tables and graphs.
- Investigate the feasibility of automation of various portions of production and data management.
- Design documentation and data presentations that are understandable to staff and clients.
- Provide research and evaluation technical assistance to other WRMA divisions as needed.
- Participate staff development activities to build research and evaluation capacity.
- Develop, with other WRMA staff, responses to requests for proposals and grant applications as required from time to time.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis of data, as requested, to other staff and clients.
- Collaborate with other Research Division staff to assure timely production and delivery of research findings including providing relevant data, input and specialized knowledge regarding the relationship of different data sets.
- Participate actively in dialogue and discussions to achieve effective company-wide working relationships.
- Represent WRMA to internal and external audiences under direction of senior staff.
- Generate written reports and documents for a wide range of audiences.
- Actively remain current regarding developments and trends in the field of social service.
- Maintain contact with, and participate as appropriate, with professional organizations.
- Participate in the implementation of projects and contracts as requested.
- Solve problems through initiative, information gathering, and recommending solutions.
- Apply creative solutions and latest methods solving research and evaluation problems.
- Nurture teamwork and staff involvement in project and contract performance.
- Coordinate with staff located in offices in various parts of the country.
- Participate, as requested, in off-site focus groups, training and research related site visits.
- Additional related duties as needed.
ABILITIES
- Knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods; the ability to determine the approximate mix of methods to meet information needs.
- Problem-solving skills, including ability to develop novel approaches to problem solving.
- Good judgment and the ability to make decisions based on both facts and knowledge.
- Capacity to effectively use research and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate knowledge and learning.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communication.
- Ability to clearly communicate data interpretations and analysis.
- Relate effectively to both neighborhood social service practice and institutional and public policy decision-makers.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- B.A. or equivalent experience in program evaluation or in a field of applied social science research such as: psychology, sociology, anthropology, social work, public policy, or education.
- Working knowledge of the use of computers, Microsoft Office applications and research software such as SPSS.
- Demonstrated writing skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work in enclosed office with controlled temperature climates.
- Long periods of sitting.
- Long periods of computer use.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Long periods of focus and detail orientation.
TRAVEL Occasional travel may be required.
PROMOTION POTENTIAL Research Manager
SALARY
Salary is determined commensurate with experience of the candidate. Benefits include health insurance, holidays, and vacation benefits for all full-time employees of 30 or more hours. The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $56,000 per year. While we provide competitive compensation, it's important to note that for new hires, salaries typically align with the lower end of the range, taking into account factors such as experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
