About This Position
International Drilling Equipment is seeking a Service Center Shop Lead to join our team.
The Service Center Shop Lead plays a crucial role. leading daily service execution, directing and managing mechanics, enforcing service quality and safety standards, and ensuring work is completed correctly and efficiently while ensuring that all work leaving the service center meets company standards.

Core Accountability
- Own daily work execution in the service center
- Daily priority and resource assignment alignment with District Service Manager.
- Assign work to mechanics based on skill, complexity, and priority.
- Conduct daily start of shift huddles.
- Monitor progress and adjust assignments as conditions change
Quality Control & Technical Authority
- Serve as the final quality authority for all repair and service work.
- Perform in process and final inspections.
- Ensure repairs meet OEM specifications and internal standards.
- Stop work immediately if quality or safety is compromised.
Mechanical Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and manage the team of mechanics.
- Reinforce accountability, workmanship, and professionalism.
- Mentor technicians on diagnostics and repair standards.
- Identify skills gaps and escalate training needs.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Standardize shop workflows and implement best practices for scheduling, documentation, and quality control.
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols, PPE usage, and OSHA compliance in shop, yard, and warehouse areas.
- Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Shop Discipline, Safety & Organization
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and WIP assets are controlled and staged correctly.
- Always enforce safety and housekeeping standards.
Issue Escalation & Coordination
- Escalation of issues early when:
- Unexpected damage is found
- Parts delays impact delivery
- Scope changes affect timelines.
- Coordinate with the Service District Manager and Service Advisor.
Education & Experience
- Related field experience in technical and service centers.
- Experience managing shop operations, field service coordination, or similar environments preferred.
Work Hours and Environment:
- Working hours are M-F 9am to 5:30pm
- Work Environment is in a shop that can be exposed to weather and elements according to the season
- This position reports to the Nazareth, PA, location
Benefits:
IDE offers a competitive benefits package for full-time employees. You will be eligible to enroll after 90 days of employment.
