We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead our team in a busy medium-to heavy duty truck service and upfitting business. This role is perfect for a hands-on leader who can balance strong technical skills with effective team management.
Position Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day‑to‑day production operations, including scheduling, workflow planning, and resource allocation.
- Oversee upfitting activities such as vehicle equipment installation, fabrication, electrical systems, and final inspections.
- Ensure production targets, timelines, and quality standards are consistently met.
- Monitor work in progress and adjust staffing or priorities as needed to meet delivery commitments.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce rework, and improve throughput.
- Supervise, coach, and develop production technicians and support staff.
- Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Coordinate training on equipment, safety practices, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with HR on hiring, onboarding, discipline, and performance management.
- Oversee post‑delivery support activities, including warranty work, customer concerns, repairs, and modifications.
- Serve as a point of escalation for customer issues related to workmanship or functionality.
- Coordinate troubleshooting, scheduling, and resolution of post‑delivery service requests.
- Work with Sales, Operations, and Service teams to ensure customer concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Ensure documentation of post‑delivery issues is complete and used for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all installations meet internal quality standards and customer specifications prior to delivery.
- Oversee final inspections, checklists, and documentation.
- Analyze recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat concerns.
- Partner with Sales to clarify scope, timelines, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Inventory teams to ensure materials and components are available when needed.
- Communicate production status, delays, or risks to leadership proactively.
- Track key performance metrics such as productivity, rework, warranty claims, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate production and service records.
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of total experience in vehicle upfitting, fleet services, automotive manufacturing, fabrication, or a comparable production environment.
- 2 years in a lead, supervisor or management role.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in operations, manufacturing, automotive technology, or related field preferred.
- Technical certifications, safety training, or leadership development coursework are a plus.
- Knowledge of P.T.O. & hydraulic systems, air compressors, mobile truck cranes 3K-10K lbs is a plus.
