CGE Augie Research Coordinator at Augustana University – Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Hours Per Week: around 2 hours

Location: Augustana Campus

The Student coordinator will assist student research awardees over the course of their projects. Coordinators will review project proposals to familiarize themselves with the research being done. They meet with awardees in person early in the semester. Afterward, coordinators will communicate at least once a week with awardees to offer good advice, help resolve road blocks, and ensure that study progress is being made. Coordinators may also need to check in with the faculty mentors when appropriate.

Eligibility for the Research Fellow Student Coordinator

Applicant must:

1. Be a full-time Augustana student (currently taking ≥ 12 credits per semester) in the undergraduate program

2. Have completed at least two years of undergraduate study by the start of research

3. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (lower GPAs are considered on a case-by-case basis; note that the average GPA of last year’s research participants was 3.8)

4. Preference will be given to applicants who have successfully served as research fellows

Expectations for the Student Coordinator of Research Fellows

1. Review the research project proposals

2. Meet research fellows in person at the beginning of the semester and at the end of the project

3. Communicate at least once a week with fellows to answer questions, resolve roadblocks, and ensure steady progress

4. Communicate with faculty mentors and/or CGE as needed

**Note: As is true with any job, failure to meet requirements of the program will result in reduced payment and potential removal from the program.

Compensation

Payments are made periodically throughout the semester. Payment is dependent on sufficient progress towards research objectives and meeting the participation expectations above.

Pay is distributed throughout the 10-15 week program. Pay may be held until program requirements are met, or reduced if program or mentor requirements are not met.

Jobs, Volunteer Activities and Summer Coursework in Addition to Research

All outside jobs, coursework, vacations, and volunteer commitments during the ten weeks should not interfere with your ability to complete 50 hours of research and the required expectations.
