To learn more about Uptime Industrial and the core values that shape our company today, visit https://www.uptimeindustrial.com/about/.About The RoleReporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, the Mechanical Foreman oversees and coordinates mechanical work on assigned projects alongside the designated Project Manager, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards. This role manages crew hours against quoted time, processes and tracks material orders, enforces safety policies, and provides regular progress updates to the Project Manager. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop a detailed work breakdown structure for executing the mechanical scope of work;
- Assign daily tasks to technicians and monitor progress;
- Ensure required materials, tools, and equipment are available on site;
- Provide weekly reporting (unless otherwise communicated) on project progress to the Project Manager;
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the project scope to identify and communicate potential change orders ahead of execution to the Project Manager;
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for safety matters and for the customer;
- Perform daily QA/QC inspections;
- Mentor and train junior team members on the job to build skill and capability;
- Update the Project Manager via email on any communication or interactions with the customer;
- Create purchase orders (POs), update PO values, and notify the Project Manager;
- Order materials, parts, and consumables as needed that were not ordered by the Project Manager;
- Document and remedy any deficiencies found during customer walkthroughs;
- Manage subtrades on site;
- Attend project handover meetings with the Project Manager and Estimator;
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies, external vendors, and the customer for inspections and certifications;
- Communicate employee concerns to the Mechanical Department Manager;
- Assist in project close-out activities, including punch-list completion, final inspections, and documentation;
- Ensure daily time entries are made on the correct work order and entered accurately.
- Red Seal certification in Millwright, Welding, or Metal Fabrication;
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in mechanical trades, including supervising crews and managing projects;
- Proven ability to lead by example and mentor apprentices;
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, fabrication techniques, and equipment installation;
- Owns and maintains personal hand tools and approved safety footwear;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation;
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with crews, subcontractors, and clients;
- Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency on the job site.
