Job Description:
Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Promote dignity, independence, and community participation by assisting with daily living activities, recreational engagement, and individual service plan implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist with daily living tasks including personal hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
2. Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and behavior support plans as directed.
3. Support participation in community, recreational, and vocational activities.
4. Administer medications and treatments per CRMA certification, physician orders, and agency policies.
5. Provide transportation to appointments, activities, and work locations; ensure vehicle safety standards are met.
6. Accurately document services, medications, incidents, and progress notes using approved systems (e.g., Therap).
7. Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment in compliance with agency standards and licensing requirements.
8. Respond appropriately to emergencies or behavioral incidents using de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
Required Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED (required).
2. At least 18 years of age.
3. Legally eligible to work in the United States.
4. Valid U.S. driver’s license issued by any state.
5. Current automobile insurance in applicant’s name.
6. Ability to provide proof of education (diploma, transcripts, certifications).
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift and support at least 50 pounds as part of client mobility and emergency support.
2. Ability to bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
3. Comfortable providing personal care including hygiene and toileting assistance.
Certifications and Training: Mandatory certifications by the State of Maine
1. Willingness to complete required training within established timelines: DSP Certifications, CRMA (Certified Residential Medication Aide), CPR, First Aid, MANDT/CPI (crisis intervention).
2. Participation in agency and regulatory training programs as assigned.
Work Schedule and Conditions:
1. Availability for varied shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnights.
2. Onsite residential work environment with community integration activities.
3. Employment is contingent upon passing background checks including criminal, motor vehicle, and APS/CPS registries.
4. Must meet Medicaid/Medicare eligibility standards; no exclusions from federally funded programs.
