Summary:Join Woodwell Climate Research Center’s Evolving Meta-Ecosystem Institute (EVOME) team as a Project Coordinator. EVOME is a large, National Science Foundation (NSF) funded, interdisciplinary research institute focused on ecological dynamics, integration, and workforce development. This position plays a key role in coordinating scientific, administrative, and logistical activities across multiple institutions, field sites, and research teams. As the Project Coordinator, you will work closely with EVOME leadership, investigators, trainees, and administrative staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and effective communication across the Institute. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative, interdisciplinary institute addressing ecological change and sustainability.
Responsibilities include but not limited:Coordinate meetings, workshops, and project activities across EVOME teams and partner institutions to ensure the project is on schedule Provides administrative and logistical support including meeting arrangement, progress tracking and documentationSupport NSF reporting and internal progress tracking (quarterly and annually) by collecting inputs, maintaining documentation, and preparing draftsAssist with budget tracking, subaward coordination, no-cost extensions, and rebudget documentation in collaboration with administrative staffMaintain shared project timelines, records, and collaborative documentsServe as a point of contact for investigators, students, postdocs, and partner institutionsSupport onboarding of students, postdoctoral researchers, and research assistantsAssist with field logistics, including travel, housing, and equipment coordinationTrack deliverables, deadlines, and action items to support timely project progress
Must have the Following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Research coordination, project management, or scientific program support experienceExcellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to proactively manage tasks and other people to meet firm deadlinesStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsAbility to take initiative, and manage multiple tasks independently while working collaboratively in a teamWorkflow, automation, key metrics within project managementProficient with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, shared calendars)Project management knowledge and tools such as Asana Knowledge of financial or grants management systems such as Sage preferredPrior experience supporting NSF-funded or interdisciplinary research programs as well as working across multiple institutions or field-based research teams preferredBiology, ecology, conservation science, or a closely related field preferredWilling and able to travel to attend Institute meetings at various locations
Qualifications: 2+ years of professional relevant experienceBachelor’s degree
Work Environment: The functions of this role are conducted indoors
Hours of Work:This role is paid on a salary basis.Typically, full-time employees work 40 hours during a Monday through Friday workweek. However, this is a salaried position. Therefore, the individual is expected to work as required to complete the duties of the position. This may mean weekend hours and/or hours beyond 40 per week.Application review will begin immediately. Desired Start Date: February 2026
Fixed-term: Initial appointment 1 yr, with potential to extend for 4 years, depending on funding
Classification and Compensation: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, the annual salary range is $50,000 + dependent on qualifications/experience. Woodwell offers a generous benefits package.
