About This Position
As a vital member of the Internal Resource Pool, the Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) plays a key role in ensuring a safe, supportive environment for patients requiring continuous observation. Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager and supervised by a Registered Nurse, the PSA provides essential, compassionate care to pediatric through geriatric patients at increased risk due to behavioral, cognitive, or physical concerns. Floating across various units, PSAs remain at the bedside, vigilantly monitoring patients and promptly alerting clinical staff to changes or emergencies. Their responsibilities include detailed documentation, assisting with basic care tasks, and supporting patients who are suicidal, confused, self-injurious, impulsive, or otherwise at risk. Through close collaboration with nursing teams and families, PSAs help maintain safety and dignity for some of the hospital’s most vulnerable individuals.
Hourly Pay Rate: $15.00 - $22.13
Qualifications
Education:
- Prefers a high school diploma or GED certificate.
Experience:
- Prefer prior experience as a patient safety attendant in a hospital, nursing home or home care setting to medical or behavioral needs patients.
- Prefer one (1) year of hospital experience as a patient care assistant or patient safety attendant.
Specialized Training:
- Must successfully complete an approved Valleywise Health computer classes.
- Must successfully complete EVE training within six months.
Certification/Licensure:
- Requires a BLS card obtained through an American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bilingual is preferred.
- Must have the ability to work with culturally diverse people. Requires excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
