About This Position
The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for leading accounting plant operations for SHINE SPECT, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, financial reporting and compliance. The Cost Accounting Manager partners with operations, finance, and corporate teams to ensure accurate financial records, effective controls, and strategic support for business objectives.
The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000 plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting & Inventory
- Establish and maintain standard costs for all products.
- Perform cost roll-ups and maintain cost models for new and existing products.
- Analyze cost variances (material, labor, overhead, purchase price).
- Conduct margin analysis by product line, SKU, or batch.
- Partner with operations to understand waste, yield losses, batch failures, and production inefficiencies, reflecting these in cost structures.
- Ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Calculate and report inventory reserves (slow-moving, obsolete, expired inventory).
- Manage intercompany transfers, including lot tracking and serialization as applicable in pharma.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Oversee capital expenditure (Capex) tracking and cost reporting.
- Prepare and review internal financial reports, account reconciliations, and support audits.
- Partner with Finance to ensure operational performance reporting to leadership.
- Partner with Finance in the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning (LRP) activities.
Corporate & Non-Finance Functions.
- Manage accounting period open/close activities related to inventory and COGS.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and corporate teams to drive process improvements and implement new systems.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or advanced degree preferred).
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting (manufacturing or pharma experience preferred).
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and working with plant leadership to drive financial excellence within the plant and in managing costs.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Experience with SAP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and drive strategic initiatives.
