The Monarch San Antonio – A Legacy of Service and Sophistication

The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Position Overview

The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a warm, refined, and memorable first impression for all guests dining at Monarch. This role manages reservations, seating flow, and guest interactions while ensuring a seamless and elevated arrival experience. The Host/Hostess embodies the hotel's commitment to luxury service through professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality.

What You'll Do

  • Greet guests promptly with a warm, professional, and polished demeanor upon arrival
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and table assignments to ensure optimal seating flow and guest satisfaction
  • Escort guests to tables while providing an engaging and personalized introduction to the dining experience
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of table status, availability, and pacing of service
  • Communicate effectively with servers, management, and kitchen teams to support seamless operations
  • Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and seating preferences with care and attention to detail
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entrance, and reception areas
  • Monitor restaurant ambiance including lighting, music, and overall presentation
  • Support service recovery by addressing minor guest concerns and escalating issues when necessary
  • Assist with coordination of VIP guests, special events, and large party reservations
  • Ensure menus, signage, and reservation systems are current and accurate
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support restaurant operations
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent requiredPrevious host/hostess or guest-facing experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment preferred
  • Experience in a luxury or upscale dining environment preferred
  • Familiarity with reservation systems such as OpenTable or similar platforms preferred

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a polished and professional presence
  • Ability to provide warm, engaging, and personalized guest interactions
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and awareness of guest preferences and service flow
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-volume or high-pressure situations
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with service staff
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the restaurant
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards
  • Strong commitment to guest satisfaction and service excellence

Licenses or Certifications

  • Food Handler Certification preferred
