Central Sterile Processing Technician in Rushville, Indiana at Rush Memorial Hospital

The central sterile processing technician coordinates and collaborates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for daily surgical procedures in surgery and related departments. Also may be trained to do PA’s and assist scheduler as needed.

  • Demonstrates ability to give and follow instructions accurately
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with various levels of health care
  • Responsible for control of all parts of the sterilization process: decontamination; prep, pack, sterilize; documentation of sterilization; and sterile storage including remediation of equipment failures and hazards.
  • Provide integrity and sterility of products and services for the customers.
  • Work in conjunction with the OR staff to provide timely sterile products.
  • Maintain consistency and continuous workflow between the OR and Central Service Sterile Processing while practicing excellent customer service personnel
• Knowledge-
  • Basic central sterile procedures
  • Basic office procedures
• Education-
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Central
• Experience-
  • Minimum of one year of previous surgery or central sterile experience preferred
  • Computer skills and basic office protocol

• Extensive exposure to confidential information or matters
• Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees and physicians
• Must be able to work with and communicate with different types of people

• Must be able to prioritize, utilize critical thinking, and adjust to change
• Must be able to reason and use logical problem-solving skills
• Performs duties that require some latitude for independent judgment and initiative in handling situations out of the ordinary
