About This Position
Pay Range: $ 27.55/hr - $ 31.16/hr - $ 35.26/hr
*Please note, the highest starting rate as a new hire is $31.16/hr, based on applicable experience
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Technician-Outpatient Pharmacy is responsible for the operation of pharmacy software to obtain patient and drug information, and process prescriptions. They work with the Manager of the Outpatient Pharmacy to schedule, orientate, train, and evaluate the competencies of the Pharmacy Technicians. They may also assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the medication inventory, and maintaining patient records to assure that patients receive pharmaceutical care which is consistent with the mission of the department and the hospital. They work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. These activities are performed within the context of established policies, procedures and techniques of Enloe Medical Center, the Enloe Medical Center Pharmacy, and federal and state standards and regulations. The Pharmacy Technician supports and contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Medical Center and the Pharmacy Department.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Three years of current outpatient pharmacy technician experience
Desired:
Computer experience with pharmacy programs and with Windows
Previous lead experience
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION:
Minimum:
Currently registered as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing by the State of California
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with health-system staff, pharmacy staff, patients, family members, and other health care professionals. Must display Enloe's core values. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule, organize and perform all duties with accuracy and efficiency. Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, abbreviations, brand and generic names of medications. Ability to use a computer keyboard and to learn required functions on hospital computers including RX30 and Epic software programs. Ability to transcribe pharmacy records, nursing records and physician orders/records from written, verbal or electronic sources. Ability to use a calculator and perform pharmaceutical calculations. Understanding of policy and procedure for relevant tasks. Ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose the appropriate course of action. Ability to utilize good telephone and interpersonal etiquette. Demonstrate a desire to learn more and actively pursue that desire. Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently. Must also be able to self motivate and work independently. They should be able to notice inconsistencies and reconcile duplicate or erroneous information.
