The position supports ongoing stormwater management research as part of PennDOT’s I-95 Girard Avenue Interchange Reconstruction Project. The student intern would complete lab and/or field work to support stormwater sampling and flow and soil measurements. Laboratory work includes soil classification testing, data management and analysis, maintaining a safe and clean lab, and preparing samples and equipment. Field work may include assisting graduate students with maintaining field sites, collecting samples, installing/maintaining equipment, and infiltration testing.Requirements:Attention to detail, able to follow directions: science or engineering major preferred. Previous lab experience a plus. Critical thinking skills in order to work safely in the lab and field.Additional Information:Physical Demands Summary:Must be willing to complete repetitive tasks in the lab and/or field and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in uncomfortable field conditions such as extreme temperatures, humidity, and/or rain. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.Wage Rate:$15/hr.
