Nebraska Cancer Specialists is the regional leader in cancer diagnosis, treatment and research. We are seeking a compassionate, caring, kind, and Patient AR Specialist.. This position is accountable for timely follow up on all outstanding insurance account receivables to include resolution of denials. Also responsible to review overpaid claims and process refunds as needed.
- Answers questions from patients and third party payers regarding accounts
- Ensures account balances are correct and balances are assigned to the appropriate insurance or patient bucket.
- Reviews credit balance accounts and processes refunds for all patients as appropriate
- Contacts patients regarding outstanding balances and assigns accounts to outside collection agency as needed
- Provides patient cost estimates
- Handles probate and bankruptcy filings
- Assists with patient assistance claim submission and follow up
- Assists with SDOH billing and documentation

- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be familiar with medical terminology and HIPAA
- Working knowledge of medical billing, with at least one year of medical billing or insurance follow-up experience
- Ability to read and interpret insurance explanation of benefits or remittance advice
- Experience in oncology and AR department preferred
