About This Position
This role is essential to creating high-quality event experiences by coordinating, setting up, and operating multimedia equipment, including audio, video, lighting, and staging for campus events. As the primary technical resource, this position ensures seamless event production by troubleshooting equipment issues, providing live event support, and collaborating closely with clients, students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, the role manages inventory, conducts maintenance, performs minor repairs, and ensures safety compliance across all technical aspects. The position also administers equipment fees for lost or damaged items, supporting effective resource stewardship for the department.

Technical Proficiency in Audio-Visual Systems: Skilled in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining audio, video, lighting, and staging equipment to ensure high-quality event experiences.

Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week

Event Production | 40%
- Evaluate, process, and coordinate the audio/visual, staging, and rigging needs of events.
- Provide production setup and operational support for campus events including streaming and recording.
- Design and layout staging, audio, and video aspects of events.
- Responsibility to setup and mix front-of-house and monitor feeds using a variety of boards and microphones.
- Provide day-of-event management of concert audio-visual systems including setting up and operating concert lighting systems and operating multi-channel digital soundboards.
- Process post-event production report.
- Ensure and provide the highest quality customer service to campus users, including third-party clients working closely with the events teams.
- Attend event planning production meetings.
- Assist other departments as needed to run the performances, rehearsals, and training of technical aspects of events.
- Provide institutional support in equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of problems as needed.
- Support special projects, including the research and integration of ongoing maintenance and the construction and installation of new scenic show elements.
- Develop a thorough knowledge of all rigging equipment specific to event production to operate and maintain mechanized and manual rigging equipment safely.
- Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation.
- Participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency procedure training.
- Assist with special projects and department functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- An associate’s degree in a related audio/visual or technical theatre field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Whitworth considers candidates with a wide range of educational backgrounds. We value the skills and knowledge candidates bring to Whitworth, regardless of the paths they have taken to acquire them.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in audio-visual setup, event production, or related technical support role, preferably in a campus or event setting. Experience with operating and troubleshooting multimedia equipment, including audio, video, lighting, and staging, is required. Familiarity with safety protocols and equipment maintenance is strongly preferred..
- Willingness and availability to work nights and weekends and serve in an on-call capacity.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, with or without accommodation, including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Must be able to climb ladders, work on scaffolds, and operate a personal lift as needed.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Compliance with Whitworth’s campus vehicle policy.
