About This Position

The Director of Adult Services provides leadership and programmatic direction for the Adult Program. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, person-centered services that promote meaningful engagement, skill development, and community integration for adult consumers.

The Director works closely with families, staff, and interdisciplinary partners to support consumer progress while maintaining compliance with all applicable DDS policies, licensing requirements, and program guidelines.

Family & Consumer Engagement

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with consumers and their families through clear communication, active listening, and responsive support
  • Work with the Program Specialist and Education Specialist to thoughtfully and creatively engage consumers throughout their day to promote independence, participation, and quality of life.
  • Address family questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy
  • Refer sensitive or complex family concerns to the Director of Enrollment and Family Support in a timely and appropriate manner.

Program Leadership

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of adult day and residential services, vocational programming, and community integration supports
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and monitoring of high-quality, individualized programming aligned with each consumer’s needs, preferences, and goals
  • Oversee all Individual Support Plans (ISPs) to ensure compliance with DDS guidelines, policies, and licensing requirements.
  • Establish systems to collect, monitor, and analyze consumer data to track progress and inform program decisions
  • Set meaningful, measurable goals for each consumer in collaboration with families and the interdisciplinary team.

Supervision & Staff Development

  • Directly supervise the Program Specialist and Educational Program Specialist
  • Model positive engagement, professionalism, and compassion in all staff interactions.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback to support staff growth and accountability
  • Ensure staff are well-trained in program expectations, clinical practices, and consumer-centered approaches
  • Lead with confidence while fostering a supportive and respectful team environment.

Collaboration & Interdisciplinary Work

  • Work collaboratively across departments, including vocational services, speech and language, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medical services, family support, and other program directors as appropriate.
  • Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team to support coordinated, comprehensive services for consumers
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and service quality

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with all DDS policies, procedures, and licensing standards
  • Monitor program practices to maintain high standards of safety, documentation, and service delivery
  • Support audits, reviews, and licensing activities as required

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree — BCBA certification preferred
  • 5 years of supervisory experience, including staff training
  • Experience in ABA and overseeing clinical or educational programming for individuals with developmental or related disabilities
  • Strong communication, customer service, and family support skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to respond thoughtfully to consumer and family needs
