Job Title: Project Specialist - Engineering

Location: Richmond, Virginia

Starting Compensation Range: $64,000 - $83,000 per year

What You Will Do:

  • Manage process for production on engineering department finished goods; Order all parts and metal required for custom solutions from CAT and other vendors, coordinate lead times; Reconcile costs for these custom solutions and ensure everything is in line. Rectify issues with orders; As needed, return items to Carter inventory or project
  • Work closely with vendors on pricing and volume discounts
  • On a daily basis coordinate and schedule projects to be executed with service operations team; Ensure projects are on schedule to meet strict deadlines and to avoid financial ramifications and penalties; Coordinate international projects with US government
  • Provide business ideas and advice for improving business growth in engineering space. Participate in lean projects to increase profitability and eliminate waste
  • Evaluate and plan custom parts kits based on previous orders and quoting pipeline for future orders; Ensure inventory levels are available for efficient business execution and for reoccurring customers
  • Expedite back orders of significant parts necessary for our business; Work with CAT and appropriate personnel to push items through; Monitor process on a daily/weekly basis. Keep management apprised of status and release dates
  • Work with Finance to set up credit and cash accounts. Ensure information is complete, accurate, and all approvals are received
  • Manage engineering project database for all customers and project orders
  • Administrative closeout and invoicing for engineering projects
  • Handle shipping and logistics for orders in North America and international. Update dealers and customers on shipping information and estimated ship dates
  • Use various software in fulfillment of role, including Outlook, Microsoft Office, DBS, BMTS & Mocha
  • Work with Sales Operations and Marketing teams on related projects and tasks
  • Order office supplies and other materials for engineering lab
  • Work in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous service related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Self-directed and able to work with limited supervision
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer and internet research skills
  • Must be proficient with MS-Office products
  • Work well with Sales Operations and Marketing teams on related projects and tasks

          Physical Requirements:

          • Regularly required to sit and talk or hear
          • Frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
          • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
          • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus

In addition to base pay, the compensation package may include participation in performance-based incentive programs (e.g., discretionary or non-discretionary plans), as well as overtime eligibility depending on the role.
