Salesforce Senior Solution Architect in at Harborcoat Consulting LLC

Harborcoat Consulting is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Salesforce Senior Solution Architect to help shape and lead some of our most meaningful client solutions.

This is a senior, hands-on technical role for someone who can see the big picture, dig into complex business problems, and turn them into thoughtful, scalable Salesforce solutions. You’ll work across the full project lifecycle—from Discovery and technical assessment through architecture, build, UAT, and go-live—providing technical direction and keeping the solution connected to what the client is actually trying to accomplish.

We’re looking for someone with deep Salesforce technical and solution architecture skills first and foremost. You should be comfortable owning solution direction, making architectural decisions, guiding consultants and developers, reviewing technical work, and getting into Salesforce yourself when needed.

But great architecture at Harborcoat doesn’t happen in a vacuum. You’ll also work directly with clients—leading workshops, asking good questions, explaining tradeoffs, challenging assumptions when necessary, and helping people make smart decisions about their Salesforce platform.

If you’re someone who can whiteboard the future-state architecture, explain it to a room full of nontechnical stakeholders, turn it into something a team can actually build, and then help that team build it well, you’ll fit right in.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Solution Architect, you'll own the technical and functional direction of Salesforce solutions across our client projects. On any given day, you might:

• Lead Discovery sessions, technical assessments, and solution-design workshops, digging into business processes, existing systems, pain points, constraints, and future-state goals.
• Translate complex business needs into clear, scalable Salesforce architecture and solution designs.
• Architect across the Salesforce platform, including data models, security and sharing, Flow and automation, integrations, reporting, Experience Cloud, and other platform capabilities.
• Evaluate existing Salesforce environments, identify technical debt or design concerns, and recommend practical paths forward.
• Design both the immediate solution and the future-state architecture and roadmap, making sure today's decisions don't create tomorrow's problems.
• Create useful technical and functional artifacts—solution outlines, business process flows, architecture and data diagrams, decision logs, requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria—that give the team a clear path to build.
• Make thoughtful tradeoffs between complexity, scalability, maintainability, timeline, budget, and what a client can realistically support after we're gone.
• Provide technical direction to Consultants, Developers, and Solution Architects throughout implementation.
• Review Flows, configuration, data models, permissions, integrations, and other deliverables to make sure we're building what we intended—and building it well.
• Prototype, configure, troubleshoot, or otherwise get hands-on in Salesforce when that's the best way to solve a problem or move the team forward.
• Lead client conversations around architecture and solution decisions, explaining complex concepts in plain language and helping stakeholders understand their options.
• Know when to say, “Yes, Salesforce can do that. But I don't think that's how we should solve it.”
• Support demos, UAT, technical validation, release planning, and go-live readiness so the architecture holds up all the way through implementation.
• Lead Sales scoping calls with potential and current clients and assist in pre-sales proposal presentations.
• Mentor other Salesforce professionals, particularly Solution Architects and Consultants, helping them strengthen their technical judgment and solution-design skills.
• Help Harborcoat continue to mature our technical delivery standards, best practices, documentation, reusable patterns, and playbooks.
• Stay curious about Salesforce—new releases, new capabilities, better patterns, lessons learned—and bring that knowledge back to our team and clients.

You care about doing great work, but you also care about why the work matters.

Many of our clients are nonprofits and mission-driven organizations working with limited time, money, and people. We take seriously the responsibility of recommending solutions that make sense for them, not just solutions that demonstrate everything Salesforce is capable of doing. Sometimes the smartest solution is the simpler one.

Sometimes doing right by the client means recommending something that creates less work for Harborcoat. We're okay with that. We want clients who trust us enough to call us again—not clients who need us forever.

We're looking for someone with deep Salesforce experience who genuinely enjoys solving hard problems and can make complicated solutions understandable to the people who need to use them.

You should be able to take an ambiguous business problem, figure out what questions haven't been answered yet, and independently lead the solution from “What are we actually trying to accomplish?” to “Here's how we should build it.”

Ideally, you bring:

• 7+ years of Salesforce experience, with significant experience in Salesforce consulting and progressively senior responsibility for solution architecture and design.
• Several years of experience independently owning the technical and functional architecture of complex Salesforce implementations.
• Deep knowledge of the Salesforce core platform, including data modeling, security and sharing, Flow/automation, reporting, platform architecture, and release practices.
• Strong understanding of integration architecture and data movement, including APIs, middleware/ETL concepts, system boundaries, and integration patterns.
• Experience architecting solutions across multiple Salesforce clouds and products.
• Strong hands-on Salesforce skills. You don't need to be the person configuring every field or building every Flow, but you should be capable of getting into the platform when the situation calls for it.
• Experience leading Discovery, technical assessments, and solution-design workshops.
• The ability to translate Discovery findings into architecture, process flows, requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and actionable direction for a delivery team.
• Experience reviewing technical work and identifying concerns around scalability, maintainability, security, data integrity, performance, or alignment with the intended architecture.
• Confident, engaging communicator and presenter with strong public speaking skills.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to other Salesforce professionals.
• Strong client-facing communication and workshop facilitation skills.
• The confidence and judgment to make a recommendation, explain the tradeoffs behind it, and respectfully push back when the requested approach isn't the right one.
• A track record of designing solutions that work not just at go-live, but after the consulting team leaves.

Nonprofit Experience

A significant portion of Harborcoat's work is with nonprofits, foundations, education organizations, and other mission-driven teams, so Salesforce nonprofit experience is strongly preferred. We're especially interested in candidates with experience in:

• Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud (NPC)
• Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)
• Experience Cloud
• Fundraising and donor management
• Program management and outcomes
• Grants or foundation operations
• Constituent engagement
• Nonprofit reporting and data strategy

We'd love to find someone who already understands both NPSP and the newer Nonprofit Cloud architecture, but we don't want to miss an exceptional Senior Solution Architect simply because their deepest Salesforce experience came from another industry.

Certifications

Salesforce Certified Administrator is required.

Additional Consultant- and Architect-track certifications are strongly preferred. Certifications related to Nonprofit Cloud, Platform App Builder, Data Architecture, Sharing & Visibility, Integration Architecture, Experience Cloud, or other relevant architecture disciplines are especially valuable.

But certifications alone won't make someone a Senior Solution Architect here. We're much more interested in whether you can look at a complicated problem, ask the right questions, make sound architectural decisions, explain why you made them, and lead other people toward a solution that works.

The Details

This is a full-time, remote position within the U.S., with occasional travel for client or Harborcoat team meetings. You’ll report directly to our Senior Director of Delivery.
