About the Role:

The Float Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting multiple healthcare departments by providing flexible and comprehensive clinical and administrative assistance. This position requires adaptability to work across various medical specialties and settings, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient office operations. The Float Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting healthcare providers during procedures, and managing patient records with accuracy and confidentiality. By moving between departments as needed, this role helps to balance workloads and maintain high standards of patient service throughout the facility. Ultimately, the Float Medical Assistant contributes to a positive patient experience and supports the overall effectiveness of the healthcare team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of one year experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in multiple medical specialties or departments.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and minor procedures across different departments.
  • Prepare examination rooms by sterilizing equipment and ensuring necessary supplies are available.
  • Obtain and record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information accurately.
  • Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, coordinating with various departments, and updating patient records.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, insurance verification, and handling patient communications.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards in all interactions.
  • Adapt quickly to changing departmental needs and provide support wherever required to optimize patient care.

The Float Medical Assistant utilizes clinical skills daily to assist providers with patient care, including taking vital signs and preparing patients for exams. Administrative skills are essential for managing patient records, scheduling, and coordinating between departments to ensure smooth operations.
