Job Description

Description:

Knight Federal Solutions is a trusted provider to industry leading prime contractors, the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. We have established a company culture that supports our employees, their families and the communities in which they live and work. When you join our team you belong to a group of people that work hard, strive for greatness and care about people.

Our hard work is evident in everything we do. Whether it be supporting large government programs in the areas of Simulation and Training, Information Technology, Intelligence or Engineering we always strive to be the best. It is for this reason that we have been recognized as a World Class Team Supplier by Northrop Grumman and were also named one of Florida’s fastest growing companies by Inc. Magazine.

As Knight Federal Solutions continues to grow, we look forward to hiring the best and the brightest to join us in our success!

Knight Federal Solutions supports Department of Defense and Intelligence Community programs in simulation and training, IT, intelligence and engineering. Our IT environment is a Microsoft 365 GCC tenant, Azure, and an on-premises enclave in Orlando, all operated to CMMC Level 2 and NIST SP 800-171 requirements for Controlled Unclassified Information.

We are hiring a Systems Administrator to own day-to-day IT operations and support for about 170 staff, and to grow, over a planned 18 to 24 months, into the engineer who co-owns our security and compliance environment and serves as alternate Information System Security Manager. You will start by taking the service queue and the onboarding pipeline; you will finish the second year able to run the environment and stand in front of a CMMC assessor.

This is a hands-on role on a two-person team. You will see every layer of the stack, from end-user devices to Azure networking to Sentinel, and you will help build the automation and AI agents that remove repetitive work rather than live with it.

Operations and Support

  • Own Tier 1 and Tier 2 support in Jira Service Management: triage, resolve, document and close, with same-business-day first response as the standard.
  • Run employee onboarding and offboarding end to end: accounts, licences, groups, devices, MFA enrolment and access removal, coordinated with HR and the FSO.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 GCC: Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams, Entra ID (users, groups, Conditional Access operations), Intune (Windows and mobile), Defender for Endpoint.
  • Perform first-line triage of security alerts from Defender and Sentinel, following runbooks and escalating what matters.
  • Patch and maintain Windows Server, domain controllers, Hyper-V hosts and the backup platform; verify backups and restores on schedule.
  • Manage endpoint lifecycle: imaging, Autopilot, hardware inventory, repairs and vendor RMAs.
  • Support the on-premises enclave: firewall rule requests, switch ports, Wi-Fi, VPN client issues, printers and MFPs, MFA (Duo) enrolment and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain documentation and collect compliance evidence as part of normal work, not as a separate project.
  • Automate repetitive tasks with PowerShell and, as you learn the platform, with our n8n agent workflows.

Systems, Security and Compliance Ownership

  • Become named owner for Intune, Defender and vulnerability management, backup, Jira Service Management and the enclave hardware.
  • Operate Microsoft Sentinel: analytics rules, incident handling, log-source health and monthly reporting.
  • Maintain the System Security Plan and control evidence for your areas; participate in and then lead assessor evidence sessions.
  • Act as alternate ISSM: change control, access reviews, incident response coordination, POA&M tracking.
  • Back up the IT Manager on vendor and licensing relationships (Microsoft CSP, managed security services, telecom) and on Azure and AWS GovCloud operations.
  • Mentor department champions on the shared agent platform and own the agents that run its own work.
Requirements:

Required

  • 3 to 5 years administering Windows environments in a business setting, including Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Hands-on experience with Intune or an equivalent MDM, Windows Server and Active Directory, and a ticketing system.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, firewall rule logic.
  • PowerShell for administration: you can write and read scripts, not only run them.
  • Clear written communication: tickets, runbooks and change records that someone else can follow.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds and work occasionally outside business hours for maintenance windows.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Microsoft 365 GCC or GCC High tenant, or in another regulated environment (DoD, federal, healthcare, finance).
  • Familiarity with CMMC, NIST SP 800-171 or a comparable control framework, and with collecting audit evidence.
  • Azure fundamentals: virtual networks, VPN gateways, virtual machines, Log Analytics; any AWS exposure is a plus.
  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Sentinel or another SIEM/EDR pair.
  • Hyper-V, Veeam or similar backup, Cisco switching and wireless, WatchGuard or comparable firewalls, Duo or another MFA platform.
  • Jira Service Management administration; exposure to n8n, Power Automate or similar workflow tools.
  • One or more of: AZ-104, SC-200, AZ-500, MS-102, CompTIA Security+ (Security+ or equivalent will be required within 12 months for the alternate ISSM designation).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.

Knight Federal Solutions provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, military or veteran status, genetic information or any other protected classification.
