Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, and federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.

  • Conduct routine facility inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify workplace hazards and environmental concerns.

  • Partner with Plant Managers, supervisors, and employees to promote safe work practices and strengthen safety awareness across both locations.

  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, incidents, and near misses; identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Develop and coordinate employee safety training, including emergency response, hazard communication, PPE, and equipment safety.

  • Monitor safety performance, track incidents, maintain compliance records, and prepare reports for plant and company leadership.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, training, incident investigations, safety procedures, and environmental compliance activities.

  • Oversee environmental compliance activities, including waste management, chemical handling, and applicable reporting requirements.

  • Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS), emergency response plans, and required safety documentation are current and accessible.

  • Identify opportunities to improve HSE processes, reduce workplace risks, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide safety guidance and support across multiple shifts, including occasional off-hours availability as operational needs require.

  • Travel between facilities to conduct inspections, provide training, support investigations, and maintain consistent HSE standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health, safety, or environmental management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Previous experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities or locations preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and industrial safety practices.

  • Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective safety programs and employee training.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate with leadership across multiple locations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, safety reporting systems, and related compliance documentation.

  • Professional safety certifications such as CSP, ASP, or CHMM preferred.

  • Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment, including walking production floors, standing for extended periods, and navigating stairs and elevated work areas.

  • Flexibility to support varying shifts and respond to operational safety needs.

  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Terre Haute, IN area and travel periodically to Flint, MI.
