Ideal candidates are strategic thinkers who thrive in dynamic environments, embrace complexity, and are passionate about building scalable financial infrastructure aligned with a meaningful mission.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead all aspects of financial management, planning, forecasting, and accounting operations across the organization and its collaborative initiatives.
  • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to executive leadership, senior management, and board committees, translating financial insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain long-term financial strategies, multi-year forecasts, contingency plans, and financial resilience models.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process, including budget preparation, financial presentations, and ongoing monitoring of organizational performance.
  • Manage monthly financial close activities and prepare accurate internal financial reports to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Support grantmaking and development activities through budget creation, grant allocation oversight, and funder reporting compliance.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of financial systems, tools, policies, and operational processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and accuracy.
  • Coordinate audit preparation, financial statements, tax filings, and compliance activities while ensuring adherence to nonprofit and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management, and financial controls across evolving organizational structures.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and adaptable work environment.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, development, program, and leadership teams to align financial management with organizational priorities and growth objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong expertise in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), forecasting, budgeting, and organizational financial strategy development.
  • Experience working within grant-funded or philanthropic environments, including grant tracking, reporting, and compliance management.
  • Proven ability to lead finance operations during periods of organizational growth, restructuring, or systems transformation.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, audit coordination, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance practices.
  • Experience implementing or managing financial systems and accounting software; familiarity with Sage Intacct is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing finance and accounting teams.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating across international teams and supporting operations across multiple regions and time zones is highly valued.
  • MBA, CPA, or other advanced financial certifications are considered an advantage.
  • Commitment to environmental, climate, sustainability, and social justice initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work opportunity with flexible scheduling across multiple time zones.
  • Competitive annual compensation ranging from $100,000 to $232,500 based on experience and location.
  • Opportunity to contribute to globally impactful climate, sustainability, and social justice initiatives.
  • Collaborative and mission-driven international work environment.
  • Strategic leadership role with direct exposure to executive leadership and board-level decision-making.
  • Professional growth opportunities during a transformative period of organizational evolution.
  • Inclusive workplace culture focused on diversity, equity, and collaboration.
  • Opportunity to shape scalable financial systems and operational frameworks with long-term organizational impact.
