POSITION SUMMARY

Manages, directs and coordinates overall plant operations. Oversee programs and personnel to meet business objectives for quality, delivery and throughput.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Maximize up time for casting and machining on a continuous basis. Analyze work flow to discover and break bottlenecks as they occur. Produce a sense of urgency appropriate to meet stated objectives.

· Develop and execute systems and reports to review processes and equipment anticipating production or quality issues and installs irrevocable solutions (Ex-poke yoke).

· Produces fast, accurate disposition for audit findings (TS16949), customer quality concerns, or similar reports.

· Leads plant organizational and operational planning consistent with current business plan, staffing/manpower planning, budget setting, and cost reductions.

· Performs supervisory activities necessary for effective management of the plant, such as; selection and development of employees, employee counseling and motivation.

· Responsible to insure safe work practices and safe work conditions are present at all times.

· Represents manufacturing in new product launch activity to insure timely start ups and capability to meet all customer requirements.

· Oversees machine maintenance function including total productive maintenance activities.

· Consistently support the culture needed to sustain a team environment; be visible and available to teams, introduce new technology to teams as appropriate, and manage effective team interaction (conflicts between teams and opportunities for task teams).

· Works actively with management team to establish and accomplish corporate goals. Contributes on such issues as; market strategy setting, estimating activities and quality initiatives.

· Studies, networks and benchmarks, as appropriate, to develop and refine “best practices” in all areas of responsibility; such as, training and development, statistical manufacturing techniques, LEAN, TOC, APS, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Heavy Manufacturing Environment. MKC houses different machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to noisy. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to regularly walk throughout all the manufacturing facilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business Management or Manufacturing related fields preferred
  • Ten (10) or more years of manufacturing management experience
