Technical Marketing Specialist in Westlake, Ohio at Q-Lab Corporation

Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking a Technical Marketing Specialist. The Technical Marketing Specialist Position is part of Q-Lab’s MAPS (Management of Products, Applications, and Standards) team. This highly-technical position combines elements of product management, technical support, testing and analyzing results, customer education, and new product development. Q-Lab’s mission is to Make Weathering and Corrosion Testing Simple for our customers, and the Technical Marketing Specialist supports this by removing technical obstacles for our customers and representative, as well as interfacing with our internal teams including Engineering, R&D, Sales, Repair, and Manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

• Design, perform, document, and communicate the results from hands-on experiments and testing for key customer application programs in the field of weathering, lightfastness, and corrosion
• Field and resolve unusual and challenging questions from customers relating to instrument performance and interpretation of industry standards
• Write and contribute to a wide range of technical content, including technical papers, training presentations, specification bulletins, applications guides, case studies web pages, brochures, external advertising, troubleshooting/repair guides, and product literature
• Support Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams by performing design reviews, approving parts for shipment, evaluating custom products, and providing technical support for new product introductions
• Serve as knowledge source for all Q-Lab products and services, their applications, all associated technical content, as well as the tools & processes that support the sales effort of those products. May not know the precise answer, but knows where to look or who to involve.
• Participate in international standards review and development to ensure fairness and clarity for users

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering — Chemistry or Paint Chemistry background a huge plus!
• 5+ years of experience in an engineering or technical field, preferably one involving the manufacture of electromechanical products
• Writing skills are crisp, clear, complete, concise, and persuasive
• Ability to multitask and handle a wide variety of responsibilities, with a superb level of detail and retention
• Familiarity with basic business principles – costing, pricing, and margins
• Experience and excellence with public speaking and scientific communications

Desired Skills:

• Advanced Degree in Science or Engineering
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or equivalent, with a focus on paint and coatings
• Knowledge of the science of weathering and/or corrosion
• Experience with ASTM, ISO, and other industry standards
