Job Title: Clinic Medical Assistant

Position Summary
Assist providers in delivering quality care to adult and pediatric urology patients by preparing patients for examinations and procedures, performing clinical and administrative duties within scope of practice, and promoting efficient patient flow. Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, providers, and the healthcare team while maintaining a safe, professional, and patient-centered environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, bladder scans, medical history, allergies, and medication reconciliation.
- Accurately document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and complete MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System) documentation as required.
- Collect, process, and submit blood, urine, and other laboratory specimens according to provider orders and clinic protocols.
- Perform point-of-care testing, including urinalysis and specimen preparation.
- Perform urinary catheterizations and change Foley and suprapubic catheters as ordered.
- Administer injections and bladder instillations within scope of practice.
- Obtain required consent forms and prepare patients for procedures.
- Assist providers and procedure technicians during examinations and office procedures.
- Manage assigned patient calls, messages, and EHR tasks.
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and infection control standards.
- Perform administrative support, including patient registration, scheduling, data entry, medical records management, and reception duties as needed.
- Provide compassionate, respectful service through effective communication, teamwork, and timely follow-up.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, infection control, safety standards, and PPE requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the physician, provider, or supervisor.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; certifications such as Phlebotomy or Certified Medical Assistant is a plus.
- Experience: Medical office, healthcare experience, or completion of a healthcare education program required.
- Knowledge / Abilities:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong computer, data entry, and EHR skills.
- Experience with NextGen EHR a plus.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate medical equipment, computers, office equipment, and standard clinical instruments.
- Ability to use a computer and view a monitor for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and assist patients as needed.
Work Environment
- Clinical environment with exposure to blood, bodily fluids, sharps, infectious diseases, and other biohazards.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety and infection control protocols.
- Fast-paced patient care environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- Indoor, temperature-controlled clinical environment.
