Job Title: Manufacturing Process Technician – Serial Life & Automation

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Summary:

A Manufacturing Process Technician – Serial Life & Automation supports the production, maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing processes and equipment within an electronics manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot equipment and process issues, improve production performance, and ensure manufacturing processes remain stable, efficient, and capable of meeting quality and production requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing or industrial experience, preferably within an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLCs, including programming, troubleshooting, and machine integration.
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment and assembly lines.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
  • Understanding of process validation and manufacturing process controls.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or similar approaches.
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, controls, or automation troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.

General Responsibilities:

  • Support daily production activities related to automated manufacturing equipment and assembly lines.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical, controls, PLC, and automation-related issues.
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs and associated control systems.
  • Support machine integration, commissioning, and implementation of automated equipment.
  • Monitor equipment and process performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with process validation, process optimization, and production readiness activities.
  • Analyze recurring equipment and process problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, cycle time, downtime reduction, and process reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams during equipment installation, upgrades, modifications, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of work instructions, process documentation, and technical procedures.
  • Support production teams with technical issues and provide hands-on training or guidance when required.
  • Ensure manufacturing equipment and processes comply with safety, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Track equipment issues, corrective actions, and improvement activities.
  • Participate in new equipment launches, process changes, and serial-life production support.

Physical Demand:

Work Environment:

This is a hands-on manufacturing position that requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and working in and around automated production equipment. The employee must be able to safely operate hand tools and diagnostic equipment and occasionally lift and carry materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position. The employee may occasionally work near electrical components and moving mechanical equipment and may be exposed to potential electrical hazards and other machinery-related risks. Appropriate safety procedures and personal protective equipment must be followed at all times.

The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may vary depending on production activities and equipment operation.

The position may require flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts as needed to support production schedules, equipment troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and operational requirements.
