This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a GL Accountant based in the United States.
This fully remote role supports the financial operations of multiple small-business clients through accurate and timely accounting.
You’ll manage core general ledger activities while contributing to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and tax-related processes.
The position offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of businesses, requiring strong organization and the ability to manage competing priorities.
You’ll work independently while collaborating with experienced accounting and finance professionals who support your development.
Your attention to detail and sound accounting judgment will help clients maintain reliable financial records and make informed decisions.

- Record financial transactions accurately and consistently across multiple client accounting systems.
- Post customer payments and maintain current accounts receivable aging reports as needed.
- Process vendor invoices, apply appropriate accounting judgment when coding expenses, obtain payment authorization, and schedule payments through automated systems.
- Reconcile bank activity with general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Process online payroll and ensure related transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounts.
- Prepare and file sales and property tax obligations when required by individual clients.
- Complete additional accounting activities based on the specific needs of assigned clients.
- Accurately track time spent across multiple client engagements to support budgeting, resource planning, and billing.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and contribute practical solutions to recurring challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of accounting and/or full-charge bookkeeping experience.
- Working knowledge of accrual-basis accounting and payroll requirements.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based accounting or automation platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and common productivity tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements, prioritize effectively, and shift between competing deadlines.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the initiative to identify and recommend process improvements.
- Ability to work independently and remain accountable in a fully remote environment.
- Curious, enthusiastic mindset with a willingness to learn across a broad range of accounting and small-business topics.
- Creative and improvement-oriented approach, with confidence suggesting better ways of working.
- Must be located in the Eastern or Central U.S. time zones.
- Salary: $70,000–$75,000 per year.
