Job Description

Investor Relations Associate

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Investor Relations Associate based in Canada.

This is a remote, relationship-driven role focused on building trust with family offices and high-net-worth investors.
You will support live fundraising mandates while developing and expanding your own network of allocators.
The role combines investor qualification, relationship management, research, briefing preparation, and thoughtful follow-up.
You will work closely with a senior investor team and gain hands-on exposure to live deal flow from the start.
Success depends on your ability to identify relevant investors, earn meaningful conversations, and build lasting relationships.
You will operate in a fast-moving, senior, and highly autonomous environment where discretion and sound judgment are essential.
The position also offers an opportunity to grow into ownership of your own investor network and progressively take on greater responsibility.

Accountabilities
  • Build and manage a growing portfolio of allocator relationships, including family offices and high-net-worth individuals, while keeping existing relationships engaged between opportunities.
  • Support live fundraising mandates by qualifying investors, preparing concise and high-quality briefing notes, coordinating follow-ups, and ensuring strong execution throughout the process.
  • Develop a consistent pipeline of new investor relationships by identifying relevant allocators and creating a regular cadence of first conversations.
  • Research investors to understand their investment strategies, interests, and potential appetite for direct investments, particularly in US startups.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships by providing relevant, thoughtful communication rather than relying on transactional or overly promotional outreach.
  • Work alongside senior investor professionals to observe investor conversations, contribute to mandate execution, and progressively develop independent judgment.
  • Use AI-powered tools and modern workflow technologies to streamline research, preparation, and pipeline management, allowing greater focus on relationship building.
  • Handle sensitive investor information with a high degree of discretion, ensuring names, allocations, conversations, and other confidential details remain protected.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience beginning to build an allocator or investor network through wealth management, private banking, family office, placement, investor relations, or another relevant environment.
  • Evidence of independently establishing relationships and opening new investor conversations rather than relying solely on an existing institutional network.
  • A clear and repeatable approach to identifying relevant investors, initiating conversations, establishing credibility, and maintaining relationships over time.
  • Strong understanding of how investors allocate capital, ideally including familiarity with direct investments in US startups.
  • Excellent listening and relationship-building skills, with a consultative approach that prioritizes investor needs and respects their time.
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism when handling confidential investor information and sensitive conversations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple relationships, mandates, follow-ups, and priorities with consistency.
  • Comfort working autonomously in a remote, asynchronous environment while collaborating effectively with a senior team.
  • Willingness and ability to use AI tools for investor research, preparation, and pipeline management as part of a modern, technology-enabled workflow.
Benefits
  • Fully remote position with an asynchronous working environment.
  • Workday overlap with US Eastern Time for several hours rather than requiring full US working hours.
  • Meetings are generally concentrated on Mondays and Thursdays, leaving substantial time for focused, independent work.
  • Access to paid, high-quality AI tools to support research, preparation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Direct exposure to live fundraising mandates and investor deal flow from the beginning.
  • Opportunity to learn investor-relations and allocator relationship management directly from experienced senior professionals.
  • Progressive opportunity to develop and manage your own side of the investor network.
  • Full-time position with locations including Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
