Business Analyst III

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Analyst III based in the United States.

The Business Analyst III will play a pivotal role in delivering advanced technology solutions across complex modernization initiatives.
The role focuses on translating business needs into clear, actionable technical and functional requirements.
You will work extensively with SaaS and COTS applications, legacy mainframe systems, data migrations, and data warehouse integrations.
The position combines requirements analysis, process improvement, system investigation, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
You will collaborate closely with business and technical teams to understand workflows, identify root causes, and shape effective solutions.
The role also provides opportunities to support UAT, implementation activities, quality assurance, and project delivery.
Success will require strong analytical thinking, communication, adaptability, and the ability to operate independently in a complex environment.

Accountabilities
  • Gather, analyze, validate, and document detailed business and technology requirements, including requirements derived through reverse engineering of legacy mainframe systems.
  • Analyze business processes and workflows, identify root causes, and recommend improvements that support successful technology implementation.
  • Investigate workflows and data across legacy regulatory systems and develop comprehensive documentation and technical specifications.
  • Create, update, and maintain functional and design documentation, including diagrams that accurately represent business processes and requirements.
  • Facilitate interactive working sessions with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to define requirements, technical specifications, and solution expectations.
  • Support user acceptance testing by helping business teams develop test scripts, validate system functionality, and prepare for implementation.
  • Conduct research and provide analytical support for special projects, user needs, and evolving technology initiatives.
  • Monitor project deliverables to ensure they meet established standards, methodologies, quality expectations, and timelines.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to other team members when assigned, helping maintain consistency across project activities and deliverables.
  • Identify potential delivery and implementation risks and contribute to mitigation strategies and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support changing project requirements and perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience with relevant business processes and workflows for software development projects, including preparation, review, and approval of project documentation.
  • 3+ years of experience working with the Texas version of the Risk-Based Data Management System (RBDMS) Oil & Gas regulatory system.
  • 10+ years of experience in requirements elicitation, client management, technical documentation, and requirements review.
  • Extensive experience facilitating interactive sessions with business and cross-functional teams and conducting workflow and root cause analysis.
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing workflow and root-cause issues within legacy systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively through written documentation, presentations, and verbal discussions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat, as well as prototyping and diagramming tools such as Visio, SnagIt, Adobe Illustrator, or Axure.
  • Experience developing design documents, functional specifications, technical requirements, workflow diagrams, and other project documentation.
  • Experience supporting UAT, training, system implementation, and validation activities.
  • Familiarity with mainframe environments, COBOL, SQL, Azure DevOps, data warehouses, data lakes, SSIS, ETL, and Snowflake is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve business processes, lead change, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively within complex, multi-functional teams.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas regulatory, compliance, or enforcement projects is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, is preferred.
  • CCBA, CBAP, or similar business analysis certifications are a plus.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks and adapt to additional project-specific requirements as needed.
  • Must be self-directed while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
