Pay Transparency:

The above reflects the anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

At Children’s Specialized Hospital, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Our RUCARES program delivers life-changing applied behavior analytic (ABA) services to children facing complex developmental and behavioral challenges. As a Lead Paraprofessional Technician, you will serve as a vital link in our clinical care team—providing hands-on therapeutic interventions while helping coordinate essential program operations. If you are an ambitious professional or a student looking to advance your clinical expertise in a highly collaborative, empathetic environment, we invite you to take the next step in your career with us.

As a Lead Paraprofessional Technician, a typical day includes the following:

  • Clinical Execution: Conducting therapeutic sessions with patients using standard ABA procedures under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or licensed psychologist.
  • Data Integration: Creating session materials, drafting progress notes, and entering clinical data into spreadsheets to graph and perform initial analyses of findings.
  • Program Development: Partnering with behavior analysts to implement intake, assessment, treatment, and discharge protocols, offering suggestions for new methods.
  • Skill & Behavior Interventions: Supporting both skill-acquisition programs (such as feeding skills, self-feeding, and communication) and behavior-reduction programs (such as extinction protocols).
  • Caregiver Training: Actively training parents and school personnel to ensure therapeutic success carries over seamlessly into the home and community.
  • Operations Support: Maintaining clinic cleanliness, organizing department materials, and assisting clinical faculty with cutting-edge research activities.

This Role Might Be For You If:

  • You are Patient and Resilient: You possess the physical stamina and emotional stability to safely support patients through intense behavioral challenges (including aggression, self-injury, elopement, or vomiting).
  • You are Mentally and Physically Agile: You can lift up to 50 pounds independently, assist with over 100 pounds, and comfortably stand, sit, or move for extended periods.
  • You Live a S.A.F.E.T.Y Mindset: You naturally practice the S.T.A.R method (Stop, Think, Act, Review), speak up instantly for workplace safety, and thoughtfully interact with a positive tone.
  • You Value Teamwork and Growth: You look out for your colleagues, welcome constructive coaching, and maintain an active, questioning attitude to improve patient care.

To Be Considered:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certification: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Preference is given to individuals who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field and have prior experience working with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges in an educational, instructional, or therapeutic setting.
