Steel CNC Equipment Technician

Location: York, PA
Shift: 1st & 2nd Shift Available
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: From $23.00/hour (Higher pay available based on experience)

Job Summary

We are hiring a Steel CNC Equipment Technician to support production operations in a structural steel manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for operating automated fabrication machinery, producing quality parts, and maintaining a safe and efficient work area. Candidates with CNC experience in heavy manufacturing or steel fabrication are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and set up CNC fabrication equipment, including beam drill lines, plasma cutting systems, and angle processing machines.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, production schedules, and work orders.
  • Load, position, and secure steel materials using overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and other material handling devices.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain production quality and accuracy.
  • Inspect finished components using tape measures, calipers, framing squares, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Make minor CNC program modifications to accommodate different material sizes and thicknesses.
  • Perform routine equipment checks, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean work area while following OSHA safety standards and company procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of CNC machine operating experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, fabrication drawings, and shop plans.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
