Job Description
PURPOSE
The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs and machining processes for precision-machined components. This position works closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure programs, tooling, and manufacturing methods support safety, quality, productivity, and customer requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining operations.
Develop machining strategies, tooling selections, and setup requirements to support efficient production.
Create setup sheets, tooling documentation, and manufacturing instructions.
Verify CNC programs through simulation, prove-out activities, and production support.
Review engineering drawings, models, and customer specifications to ensure manufacturability.
Support machinists and setup personnel with program-related troubleshooting and process improvements.
Optimize cycle times, cutting parameters, and tooling performance to improve productivity and quality.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on fixture design, tooling requirements, and process improvements.
Maintain revision control of programs and related manufacturing documentation.
Support new product introductions and first-piece validation activities.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within machining processes.
SAFETY AND QUALITY
Follow company safety policies and procedures.
Wear required PPE.
Support compliance with customer, company, AS9100, and ISO 9001 requirements when applicable.
Promote safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:JOB REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum of three (3) years of CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment.
Proficiency with CAM software such as TopSolid, SmartCAM, Mastercam, Esprit, NX, or similar systems.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and workholding methods.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
Working knowledge of GD&T.
Experience programming CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to communicate effectively with Engineering, Quality, and Production personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in aerospace, defense, or AS9100-certified manufacturing environments.
Experience with 4-axis and 5-axis machining.
Experience with Fanuc-controlled equipment.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
Experience with fixture design and machining process development.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
