The Construction Project Executive provides senior-level oversight of multiple concurrent construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, safety, and quality standards. This role sits above individual Project Managers, serving as the primary point of accountability for project performance, client relationships, and cross-project resource allocation. The ideal candidate brings deep construction industry expertise, strong leadership skills, and a track record of successfully executing complex commercial, institutional, or government projects.
Key Responsibilities

Provide executive-level supervision across a portfolio of active construction projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and client expectations
Review and approve project schedules, budgets, change orders, and forecasts prepared by Project Managers
Identify and mitigate project risks before they escalate into schedule delays or cost overruns
Conduct regular project reviews and site visits to monitor progress and quality
Client & Stakeholder Relations
Serve as senior point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, and government agency representatives on assigned projects
Manage client expectations and resolve escalated issues or disputes
Support business development efforts, including proposal input and client relationship building for repeat work
Team Leadership
Directly supervise and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and project coordination staff
Support hiring, performance evaluation, and professional development of the project management team
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and collaboration across project teams
Financial Management
Review project P&L performance and ensure accurate cost forecasting and reporting
Approve major subcontractor and vendor commitments
Partner with finance/accounting on billing, AR/AP issues, and cash flow related to assigned projects
Ensure compliance with contract terms, including bonding, insurance, and lien waiver requirements
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all projects comply with applicable building codes, permitting requirements, and contract-specific clauses (e.g., Buy America, prevailing wage, DC/Maryland regulatory requirements)
Uphold and enforce jobsite safety programs and OSHA compliance
Oversee documentation practices, including use of Procore or similar project management software
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
12+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction, with at least 5 years in a senior project leadership role
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ideally including DC government, institutional, or university projects
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling (e.g., Procore, MS Project), and cost control practices
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
OSHA 30 certification preferred
