Job Overview
Reeder Distributors is seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Air Compressor Technician to join our Equipment Service team in Spring, Texas. This position is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining air compressor systems primarily within automotive dealership and service environments. The Air Compressor Technician will also support the maintenance and repair of additional automotive shop equipment, including vehicle lifts, fluid distribution systems, and related equipment.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in the field while providing exceptional customer service. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, solving problems, and working directly with customers.
Shift and Schedule
- Full-Time
- Monday through Friday
- Additional hours may be required based on customer and business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain air compressor systems at automotive dealership locations.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on compressed air systems.
- Service and repair additional shop equipment, including vehicle lifts, fluid distribution systems, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and minor electrical issues.
- Provide excellent customer service while performing work at customer locations.
- Maintain accurate service records and clearly communicate findings, repairs, and recommendations to customers.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, diagnose, and repair mechanical equipment.
- Experience with air compressors, automotive equipment, or industrial equipment is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and identify equipment issues independently.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting is a plus.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary to perform repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, instructions, and basic technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to determine appropriate solutions in the field.
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing assigned service calls and responsibilities.
- Ability to lift equipment and perform work in a physically active environment, including standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various positions.
- Strong customer service and communication skills when interacting with customers at job sites.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow Company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
- Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training and skill development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, automotive, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in air compressor service, industrial maintenance, automotive equipment repair, field service, or a related mechanical trade preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant hands-on experience will be considered.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Employment in this position is contingent upon successfully meeting the following pre-employment requirements:
- Background Check: Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check in accordance with Company requirements.
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with Company requirements.
- DOT Physical: Must successfully complete a DOT physical examination and meet all applicable medical qualification requirements for the position. The Company will cover the cost of the required DOT physical.

- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and work in various positions while servicing equipment.
- Ability to frequently use hands and arms to operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, parts, equipment, and materials associated with service and repair work.
- Ability to safely perform work in automotive service areas, equipment rooms, mechanical spaces, and other customer environments.
- Ability to work around moving equipment, machinery, compressed air systems, electrical components, and other conditions commonly associated with mechanical service work.
- Ability to perform work indoors and outdoors and in varying environmental and weather conditions.
- Ability to safely enter, exit, and operate a Company service vehicle throughout the workday.
