Anoka - 4179 - Registered Behavior Technician I

Job Summary:

The Registered Behavior Technician 1 (RBT 1) is responsible for implementing behavior intervention plans, collecting data, and assisting in the delivery of behavior analysis services to clients. This entry-level position plays a crucial role in helping individuals with developmental and behavioral challenges achieve their treatment goals

Essential Functions:
  1. Behavior Intervention: Learning to implement behavior intervention plans developed by the BCBA. or senior RBT to address the targeted behavioral goals and objectives of clients. Performs role under close direction and supervision of Senior/BCBA/BCABA.
  2. Data Collection: Accurately collect data on client behaviors during sessions, recording relevant information for analysis and progress tracking.
  3. Assistance in Assessment: Assist the BCBA or senior RBT in conducting assessments, including gathering information through observations and data collection.
  4. Program Implementation: Follow established treatment plans, interventions, and strategies designed by the BCBA or senior RBT to promote skill development and behavior change.
  5. Documentation: Maintain organized and detailed records of sessions, interventions, and client progress as directed by the BCBA or senior RBT. Creates session notes and converts time within 24 hours.
  6. Client Engagement: Engage with clients in a positive and supportive manner, building rapport and promoting a comfortable therapeutic environment.
  7. Safety and Crisis Management: Respond appropriately to any behavioral or safety concerns, following established protocols to ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  8. Communication: Communicate regularly with the BCBA or senior RBT regarding client progress, challenges, and any relevant updates.
  9. Professional Development: Participate in required training sessions, workshops, and ongoing learning opportunities to improve skills and maintain certification.
  10. Delivers Treatment to clients 90% of hours worked
Non-Essential Functions/Other Duties:
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Travel Required:
  • Travel is seldomly required with use of personal vehicle
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the teammate may be exposed to a client that exhibits physically aggressive behavior which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc. The teammate may have to use appropriate behavior management techniques frequently with a client under such circumstances. Such response requires agility, quick reflexes, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The teammatewill be constantly required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch and squat. The teammate must be able to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and field of vision. Speech must be spoken in a manner easily understood by others. This position requires regular and punctual teammate presence.

Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience:
    • In general, 0-6 months experience working hands on with ABA programming
    • RBT Certification
    • Has successfully completed RBT training & CORES competency assessments
    • Learning ABA principles and beginning to implement under supervision
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • RBT Certification: To work as an RBT, individuals must obtain RBT certification, which involves completing a 40-hour training program, passing a competency assessment, and meeting ongoing supervision requirements.
    • Clear Background Check: RBTs usually need to pass a background check to work with vulnerable populations.Compassion and Patience: Working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities requires empathy, compassion, and patience.
    • Communication Skills: Effective communication with clients, their families, and the behavior analysis team is essential.
    • Collaboration: RBTs must be able to work collaboratively with the supervising BCBA/BCaBA and other team members to ensure the best outcomes for the individual.
    • Performs role under close direction and supervision of Senior/BCBA. Requires close supervision and instruction
  • Other:
    • Must be 18 years old or older
    • Must be able to pass a thorough background check
