Job Description

Head of Clinical Development, Pulse

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Clinical Development, Pulse based in United States.

This is a senior clinical leadership role responsible for shaping clinical outcomes across an AI-powered cardiometabolic care program.
You will guide the clinical strategy for solutions spanning hypertension, pre-diabetes, diabetes, obesity, and GLP-1 support.
The role combines clinical expertise, product development, AI governance, clinical quality, and external thought leadership.
You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Clinical Operations, Go-to-Market, and Clinical Affairs & Research teams to embed clinical rigor throughout the product lifecycle.
A key focus will be ensuring that AI-supported care experiences operate within clearly defined therapeutic boundaries, safety standards, and evidence-based guidelines.
You will also serve as a credible external clinical voice, translating clinical evidence and outcomes into compelling narratives for customers, partners, and industry audiences.
This opportunity is ideal for a clinically experienced leader who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and wants to help define the future of AI-native healthcare.

Accountabilities
  • Establish clinical validation standards for new features, workflows, interventions, and AI-supported experiences before and after launch.
  • Provide clinical leadership throughout product development, calibrating the level of clinical rigor required based on the risk and impact of each feature.
  • Bring clinical expertise to product requirements, feature scoping, and refinement of product requirement documents.
  • Analyze member and clinician feedback and translate clinical insights into roadmap, program, protocol, product, workflow, and training improvements.
  • Monitor and interpret clinical outcomes to identify drivers of improvement, decline, or variation and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Identify clinical constraints and risks early in development to ensure solutions are clinically appropriate and aligned with intended outcomes.
  • Define the intended clinical role, therapeutic boundaries, and prohibited behaviors of AI-supported care experiences.
  • Partner with Product and AI teams to establish clinical guidelines, guardrails, knowledge requirements, escalation pathways, and other safety mechanisms.
  • Co-develop clinical evaluation rubrics, acceptance criteria, release thresholds, and annotation requirements for AI-driven care experiences.
  • Develop clinical content and examples to support annotator training and ensure consistent evaluation of AI behavior.
  • Interpret clinical feedback from annotation and evaluation processes and help determine whether prompts, guardrails, training, evaluation criteria, or product behavior should change.
  • Contribute to post-launch clinical monitoring, interpret findings, and recommend appropriate corrective or enhancement actions.
  • Represent the clinical perspective on relevant internal AI monitoring, clinical quality, and governance boards.
  • Serve as an external clinical spokesperson with customers, health plan leaders, clinical audiences, conferences, and due-diligence stakeholders.
  • Author clinical materials including whitepapers, talk tracks, evidence narratives, and claims language that can withstand rigorous external scrutiny.
  • Build clinical infrastructure, processes, and standards in an environment where priorities evolve rapidly and functions may be established from an early stage.

Requirements

  • Licensed clinician with an MD, DO, NP, RD, or PharmD qualification and 8+ years of clinical experience, including at least 3 years in a clinical leadership position within digital health, health-tech, or value-based care.
  • Deep clinical expertise across cardiometabolic conditions, including hypertension, pre-diabetes, diabetes, obesity, and GLP-1 therapeutics.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a clinical outcomes framework, including defining metrics, evidence standards, and the connection between clinical outcomes and commercial value.
  • Proven track record serving as the external clinical voice for a healthcare product, with confidence engaging CMOs, health plan medical directors, clinical audiences, conference participants, and due-diligence stakeholders.
  • Direct experience partnering with product and engineering teams to translate clinical requirements into product features, operational workflows, and AI behavior rather than simply reviewing completed solutions.
  • Strong understanding of clinical guardrails, evaluation criteria, safety requirements, and governance considerations for AI-supported or AI-driven healthcare experiences.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and narrative-building skills, with the ability to personally develop high-quality clinical and commercial materials.
  • Strong technical and clinical judgment, with the ability to influence cross-functional decisions and communicate complex clinical concepts clearly.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and establishing clinical processes, standards, and infrastructure from a limited starting point.
  • Demonstrated AI fluency, with practical experience using AI tools to improve individual productivity, develop team workflows, or embed AI into products and processes, depending on experience level.
  • Experience developing third-party clinical partnerships, protocols, or clinical service agreements is preferred.
  • Direct experience with AI-supported or AI-native care delivery, including prompt design, clinical guardrails, or evaluation frameworks, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with cardiometabolic prescribing protocols, titration, and medication management in digital health is a plus.
  • Experience with outcomes-based or value-based contracting and understanding how clinical evidence supports pricing is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a high-growth digital health environment with rapidly changing priorities is preferred.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States; immigration or work visa sponsorship is not available.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package including base salary, variable compensation, and potential equity.
  • Compensation is adjusted based on skills, qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and demonstrated impact.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for eligible full-time employees.
  • Life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
  • Financial advisory services.
  • Supplemental accident, hospital, and critical illness insurance.
  • Health Savings Account.
  • Equity opportunities.
  • Discretionary paid time off.
  • Parental leave.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Remote-first work environment.
  • Paid company holidays.
  • Access to a digital therapist for employees and their families.
  • Opportunity to shape clinical strategy and AI governance within an innovative healthcare environment.
  • Significant exposure to cross-functional product, engineering, clinical, and commercial leadership.
  • Potential career growth as the organization and its AI-powered healthcare programs scale.
