Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Referral Coordinator to join our team at Summit Orthopaedics, LLP, an orthopedic clinic located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented, full-time professional looking to gain valuable experience and grow in a fast-paced medical setting. Position Details:

  • Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Pay Range: $18 - $24

Responsibilities: As a Referral Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in patient access. You will manage daily incoming referral activity, guide patients through the intake process, and collaborate closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure timely care delivery.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work Queue Management: Manage work queues regarding referral activity on a daily basis to ensure timely processing, track status, and complete referrals efficiently.
  • Patient Registration & Scheduling: Register new patients into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and schedule new patient appointments.
  • Patient Education & Guidance: Educate patients on the referral process and verbally guide them through registration procedures.
  • Communication & Correspondence: Process incoming correspondence and promptly respond to incoming phone calls, emails, tasks, and faxes.
  • Insurance & Authorizations: Confirm active insurance with patients prior to scheduling.
  • General Administrative Support: perform additional duties as assigned to support smooth clinic workflows.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a medical office setting required.
  • Prior experience with medical office insurance authorizations strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in an orthopedic office is a plus.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn medical terminology is required.
  • Experience in registering patients and working within an EMR system preferred.
  • Experience working in AthenaOne is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize work load, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and complete daily tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and sharp attention to detail.

Team Dynamic

Our clinic consists of 30 full-time and part time employees. In this role, you will work closely with our team of Providers, Back Office Medical Assistants/Surgery Schedulers, MA Lead, and Clinic Manager and Front Office Staff.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in a medical clinic setting as a referral coordinator, scheduler, medical assistant, or other medical back office support role (preferred).
  • Familiarity with EMR systems preferred.
  • Familiarity and ability to comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to reliably commute to Lake Oswego, OR.
  • Ability to participate in per-employment background check upon hire.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
