Job Description

Angela’s coffee shop is looking for Cafe Shift Leads to join our team! You’ll prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and other beverages while creating a welcoming experience for every customer. This position is classified full-time, non-exempt with benefits. The Jewish Community Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare espresso drinks, brewed coffee, iced coffee, tea, and other beverages.
  • Follow recipes and portion standards to maintain consistent quality.
  • Welcome customers, take orders, answer menu questions, and process payments.
  • Keep the coffee bar, service counter, and customer areas clean and organized at all times.
  • Restock cups, lids, syrups, milk, coffee, and other supplies.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
  • Complete opening and closing tasks.
  • Monitor inventory and communicate restocking needs to the manager or shift lead.
  • Receive and organize deliveries and supplies as needed.
  • Assist with light food preparation, pastry displays, and other café items.
  • Work collaboratively with Food Services team members.
  • Support other café and Food Services tasks as needed.
  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Previous barista and restaurant experience is preferred but not required
  • Friendly, respectful, and welcoming approach to customers and coworkers.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn beverage preparation, recipes, equipment, and payment systems.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Commitment to cleanliness, food safety, and quality.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift approximately 25–30 pounds.
  • Food Handler Certification or willingness to be trained for completion of certification. Reimbursement available
  • Availability for scheduled weekday and/or weekend shifts.
  • Professional in appearance, manner and tone.
  • A team player who possesses the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
