Pay and Schedule:
- Full-time hybrid opportunity within Minnesota.
- The ability to travel to our Home Office at 505 US-169 N, Plymouth MN
- Starting pay range $27-$30 per hour

Position Summary: Our Benefits Coordinator provides administrative support for Nexus Family Healing's employee benefits programs by coordinating benefit enrollments, changes, and updates in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role is responsible for communicating benefits eligibility and status changes to employees, entering and maintaining accurate HRIS records, and facilitating benefits-related processes for employees on leave of absence and those returning to work. The Benefits Coordinator serves as a resource for routine benefits questions and works closely with employees, vendors, and the HR team to ensure timely and accurate administration of benefit plans.
Primary responsibilities:
Benefit Administration
- Coordinates employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in accordance with established policies, procedures, and plan requirements.
- Communicates benefit eligibility and enrollment information to employees and provides routine guidance regarding available benefit programs, enrollment deadlines, payroll deductions, and required documentation.
- Processes and maintains benefit-related employee data in HRIS and other systems, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and updated in a timely manner.
- Administers benefit-related processes for employees experiencing qualifying life events, leaves of absence, and returns to work, following established procedures and timelines.
- Reviews benefit transactions and reports for accuracy, identifies discrepancies, and works with employees, vendors, payroll, and HR team members to resolve routine issues.
- Maintains employee benefit records, files, and documentation in compliance with organizational requirements and record retention standards.
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding benefit programs and escalates complex benefits, leave, compliance, or plan interpretation questions to the Sr. HR Operations Manager.
- Assists with annual open enrollment activities, including employee communications, system updates, data verification, and employee support.
- Provides administrative support for benefit audits, regulatory filings, vendor implementations, reconciliations, and reporting activities as assigned.
- Runs standard and ad hoc reports related to benefits administration, enrollment activity, and employee eligibility information.
- Coordinates updates to employee-facing benefits resources, forms, and intranet content to ensure information remains current and accessible.
Supports employee wellness, benefits, and engagement programs through routine administration, communication, recordkeeping, and reporting activities; maintains and updates employee-facing resources on the HR SharePoint site and utilizes other communication channels to promote awareness, understanding, and participation in Nexus benefit plans and programs.
- Administers the Nexus Recognition Platform, including managing user access, maintaining appropriate content, responding to routine inquiries, and generating reports to support payroll processing and program administration.
- Maintains a working knowledge of Nexus benefit plans, related administrative procedures, and applicable system functionality to effectively support employees and HR operations.
- Performs other benefits and HR administrative duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the Human Resources department.
Required Education and Licensure:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years’ experience working in an HR/business capacity administering employee benefits
- 2+ years’ experience working in an HR/business capacity administering employee leave of absences
- Proficiency working with MS Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint
- Experience working with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and maintaining confidential employee information
- Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to build positive working relationships with employees, leaders, vendors, and colleagues.
- Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulatory agency and Home Office driving requirements
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience administering benefit programs for a multi-state non-profit entity.
- Experience with Paylocity
