Job Description
Role Summary
The Railing Production Lead is accountable for daily execution of railing manufacturing operations at the Lakeville facility. This role ensures labor, materials, equipment, and processes within the railing department are aligned to meet production, quality, and safety targets.
This role operates independently and owns department-level performance while coordinating directly with the Production Manager on priorities, constraints, and escalation items.
Key Responsibilities
Production Execution & Daily Operations
Execute daily and weekly production plans for railing products
Assign work and manage workflow to maintain production flow
Monitor work-in-process and resolve department-level bottlenecks
Maintain production tracking and visual controls
Ensure standard work and documentation compliance
Safety and Compliance
Enforce OSHA and company safety standards within the railing department
Lead safety discussions and correct unsafe behaviors
Maintain housekeeping and safe material handling practices
People Leadership
Lead railing production assemblers
Train employees on railing-specific equipment and processes
Hold team members accountable to performance expectations
Quality and Scrap Reduction
Ensure railing products meet drawings and specifications
Inspect work and address quality issues at the source
Reduce scrap and rework through corrective actions
Inventory Control and Documentation
Complete and submit inventory movement documentation for all material movement within the railing department
Ensure inventory accuracy for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and scrap
Equipment and Work Environment
Ensure equipment availability and report issues
Maintain an organized and efficient railing production area
Required Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have basic English communication skills, including the ability to understand and communicate work instructions, safety requirements, and production-related information.
2+ years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or a related production environment.
Ability to read and interpret production drawings, work instructions, specifications, and related documentation.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
Ability to organize daily work assignments, prioritize production needs, and adjust workflow to meet scheduled commitments.
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, quality, and following established procedures.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify production issues and take appropriate corrective action.
Effective communication skills and the ability to provide clear direction, coaching, and feedback to production employees.
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with Microsoft hardware and proficient computer skills, including familiarity with common Microsoft applications and systems.
Ability to work independently, make sound day-to-day decisions, and escalate issues appropriately to the Production Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a lead, senior assembler, trainer, or other position involving responsibility for directing or supporting the work of others.
Experience in aluminum railing, metal fabrication, welding, machining, construction products, or a similar manufacturing environment.
Previous experience leading a production team or work cell.
Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, or other production-efficiency practices.
Experience with ERP, inventory management, or production tracking systems.
Familiarity with OSHA requirements and manufacturing safety practices.
Physical and Work Requirements
Ability to work in a manufacturing/production environment for the duration of the scheduled shift.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks as required.
Ability to safely lift and move materials consistent with the requirements of the position.
Ability to safely operate or work around production equipment, tools, and material-handling equipment.
Must follow all required PPE and company safety requirements.
