Description: Label Application & Quality Control Technician

Department: Production / Quality Control
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Production Manager / Supervisor

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Label Application & Quality Control Technician to join our production team. This position is responsible for accurately applying pressure-sensitive labels to bottles, jars, boxes, pouches, containers, and other packaging using both hand application and label application equipment.

The employee will also assist with label quality control (QC) to ensure labels and finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards before products are packed and shipped.

This is a hands-on production position that requires attention to detail, consistency, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.

Primary ResponsibilitiesLabel Application
  • Apply labels accurately by hand to bottles, jars, boxes, pouches, containers, and other packaging.
  • Operate semi-automatic and automatic label application equipment.
  • Set up and adjust label applicators for different container and label sizes.
  • Ensure labels are applied straight, centered, properly positioned, and free of wrinkles, bubbles, lifting, or other defects.
  • Verify correct front, back, top, bottom, wraparound, or multiple-label placement according to job specifications.
  • Monitor application equipment during production and make basic adjustments when necessary.
  • Maintain consistent production speed while meeting quality requirements.
  • Count, organize, package, and prepare completed products for the next production stage or shipment.
Label Quality Control
  • Inspect printed labels for defects before and during production.
  • Verify that the correct label is being used for each job.
  • Check label copy, color, print quality, registration, die cutting, size, material, and overall appearance.
  • Inspect labels for missing print, smudges, scratches, wrinkles, damaged edges, incorrect cuts, adhesive issues, or other defects.
  • Compare finished labels and labeled products against approved samples, proofs, or job specifications.
  • Verify quantities and identify shortages, overruns, or damaged material.
  • Separate and identify non-conforming or defective products.
  • Notify production management when quality issues are discovered.
  • Assist with documenting QC inspections, rejected material, and production counts.
Production & Warehouse Support
  • Prepare labels, containers, and packaging materials for production.
  • Load and unload label rolls and application equipment.
  • Perform basic cleaning and routine maintenance of label application equipment.
  • Keep the production area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Package, box, count, and palletize completed products when required.
  • Assist other production departments during high-volume periods.
  • Follow production work orders, customer specifications, safety procedures, and company quality standards.

Requirements: Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
  • Ability to identify small differences in print, color, positioning, and product appearance.
  • Comfortable working with production machinery.
  • Basic mechanical ability is preferred.
  • Ability to read measurements and follow written job instructions.
  • Basic math and counting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Previous experience in labeling, packaging, printing, manufacturing, fulfillment, or quality control is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, and move production materials.
  • Ability to lift up to 40–50 pounds when required.
  • Ability to visually inspect small print and identify defects.
