Job Description

Shift: - 1st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Monday - Friday)

Position Purpose: The Tooling Technician is responsible for properly maintaining, repairing, and supporting tools used in production. This includes preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, insert changes, minor repairs, tooling upgrades, and production support. The Tooling Technician will also assist with the check-in, evaluation, and coordination of repairs for new or transferred tools to ensure tooling performance and reliability.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implement and complete preventative and predictive maintenance programs for production tooling.
  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures, work instructions, and established safety protocols.
  • Disassemble, clean, lubricate, inspect, and reassemble injection molds and related tooling.
  • Perform insert changes according to production scheduling requirements.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot injection mold and tooling issues, including performing minor repairs as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, design, and implement tooling upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Update the Preventive Maintenance Module in the Delmiaworks ERP System.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of essential tooling replacement parts.
  • Coordinate with Engineering regarding outside tooling repairs and services.
  • Assist with the check-in and evaluation of new or transferred tools.
  • Provide tooling support to production to minimize downtime and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide backup support to the Tooling Lead, as needed.
  • Clean and maintain tooling maintenance equipment, sonic cleaners, workbenches, and other assigned equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with Company housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and follow all applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements.
  • Work independently while maintaining effective communication with team members, Engineering, and other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to diagnose or troubleshoot various molds
  • Ability to read mold and part prints
  • Ability to use test equipment (multi-meters, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Ability to operate a forklift and move heavy equipment
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and safety requirements
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally
  • Must have a strong attention to detail
  • Desired
  • Vocational training in tooling or equivalent experience
  • Injection molding experience
  • Experience with Delmiaworks ERP System
