EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience in an educational setting.


JOB SUMMARY

Develop and manage the Medical Student Education Program in the Departments in alignment with the School. Provide leadership in selected educational programs and serve as the face of the Department's Medical Student Education Program bringing expertise in healthcare education and apply it to new educational initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Lead and manage the Medical Student Education Program educational courses, student interest groups, provide support in obtaining extramural funding and foster collaborative relationships between the Department, The School and community preceptors.
  • Assist in developing long-term relationships with community preceptors throughout the state for clinical courses.
  • Provide faculty development for clinician teachers who work with students at these community sites. Facilitate the communication and funding support for community preceptors to attend UTMB faculty development opportunities.
  • Work with courses to manage the school's longitudinal clinical skills and support faculty in the instruction of medical students.
  • Develop and implement educational initiatives for medical students to stimulate and further interest in the specialty.
  • Utilize computer software systems to monitor and track student enrollment in department courses, manage student evaluations and grades.
  • Development and management of budgets for Medical Student Education program and other educational initiatives of the program and or department.
  • Supervise Medical Student Education program personnel. Coordinate and conduct regular site visits (in-person and virtual) to assess the quality of clinical education, ensure compliance with program standards, and support preceptor development.
  • Support the Director of Clinical Education and the clinical team with the planning, coordination, and administration of clinical education activities for PA students.
  • Coordinate communication and follow-up with clinical sites and preceptors to support successful student learning experiences.
  • Assist with collection, organization, and maintenance of student and preceptor evaluations for program assessment and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain clinical education databases, electronic systems, and student records in accordance with institutional policies and applicable privacy regulations.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of documentation required for ARC-PA accreditation, institutional reporting, and program assessment.
  • Support clinical site development and maintenance activities, including communication with existing and prospective clinical affiliates.
  • Assist with preceptor recruitment, engagement, and recognition activities.
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation of clinical preceptors to program policies, procedures, expectations, and clinical rotation requirements.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for faculty involved in clinical education.
  • Respond to student and preceptor inquiries and direct academic or clinical concerns to the appropriate faculty or program leadership.
  • Perform other duties related to PA clinical education and program operations as assigned by the Program Director or Director of Clinical Education.
  • Create clinical year schedules for courses and update students of any changes.
  • Manage Blackboard sites for specific clinical-year courses, including formatting and posting syllabus and course materials.
  • Monitor progress in clinical-year courses including attendance and assignments
  • Direct received assignments in clinical-year courses to the appropriate faculty member
  • Assist with exam proctoring, as needed.
  • Participate in clinical activities, including call back day scheduling and execution.
  • Develop and implement educational initiatives for PA students to stimulate further interest in the specialty.
  • Coordinate activities for students with delayed graduation.
  • Participate in recruitment events for potential applicants to the PA program.
  • Coordinate potential future post-graduate residencies and fellowships.
  • Process and maintain affiliation agreements and contracts for facilities, institutions, and agencies through Cobblestone for the UTMB PA Program students in a timely manner
  • Provide other departmental administrative support on a per need basis.


Marginal or Periodic Functions:
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of other UTMB systems such as MyStar, Blackboard, and Typhon a plus.
  • Experience creating course materials, managing student data, and generating analytical reports.
  • Advanced proficiency in Blackboard, New Innovations, One45, and online scheduling and enrollment systems.
  • Managing complex virtual and hybrid education platforms, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and asynchronous content delivery.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT

Standard Office Environment and equipment.

Salary Range:

($65,615 - $85,300) Commensurate with experience.
