Job Description

About Instrumentum

Instrumentum is a national sterile processing partner that helps hospitals and surgery centers run efficient, compliant, and safe instrument reprocessing operations. We ensure every instrument is surgery-ready to the highest standards, so our partners can focus on what matters most — delivering exceptional care.

Instrumentum is an equal opportunity employer. All employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

Instrumentum is hiring a Delivery Driver for our Richmond, VA operation. $22.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Drive routes that matter. Every tote you deliver gets a surgical team ready for the next case.

Instrumentum keeps hospitals and surgery centers in the Richmond area running by reprocessing surgical instruments off-site and returning them sterile, complete, and on time. You're the link in that chain nothing else can replace — the person who physically gets instruments where they need to be, on schedule, every day.

We invest in the people who make that happen. Delivery Drivers get structured training from day one, support for strengthening job-relevant certifications, and the chance to raise your hand for more responsibility as the Richmond team grows.

The job

This is a full-time, non-exempt route position based out of our Richmond facility. It's 100% local driving — you start and end every shift at the same facility, with no overnight travel.

What you will do

• Drive a company van or truck along assigned routes to deliver and pick up sterilized surgical instrument totes and carts

• Follow GPS routing to keep every stop on schedule

• Load and unload instruments carefully so nothing is damaged in transit

• Collect signatures on proof-of-delivery paperwork at every stop

• Represent Instrumentum professionally at each customer site — you're often the only person from our company a customer sees that day

• Complete a vehicle safety check before every shift and keep basic maintenance and fuel logs current

• Follow DOT regulations and company driving standards on every route

• Wear required PPE and follow infection-prevention procedures when handling instruments

What you need

• A valid Class C driver's license

• A clean motor vehicle record — subject to periodic DMV and/or DOT checks

• At least 1 year of commercial or route-based driving experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to push and pull loaded carts weighing up to 400 lbs

What we would like to see

• Previous customer-service or client-facing experience

• An associate degree

• Comfort following detailed documentation and safety procedures with minimal supervision

Who does well here

The strongest Delivery Drivers here treat every stop like it matters, because a missed pickup can mean a delayed surgery somewhere down the line. You're comfortable driving the same roads every day, handling the same documentation at every stop, and doing it carefully even on stop forty. You don't need someone checking your work to do it right.

The physical side of the job

This is a driving-and-loading role with regular physical handling. We'd rather you know now than find out in week two.

• Frequent driving and time outdoors, in all weather

• Regular loading and unloading of carts and totes, including items up to and over 50 lbs

• Ability to push and pull loaded carts weighing up to 400 lbs

• Occasional kneeling, crouching, or bending to load and unload

• Exposure to biohazardous materials; PPE and infection-control compliance required

• Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position

Pay and benefits

• $22.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on experience

• Medical, dental, and vision insurance, effective the first of the month after your start date

• Company-paid life insurance, plus short- and long-term disability

• Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

• 401(k) with a 50% company match on your first 2% of contributions — eligible to contribute and be matched from day one

• Paid time off that starts accruing on your first day, beginning at 10 days and increasing with tenure

• 9 paid holidays

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

• Paid every two weeks

• Structured training and support toward job-relevant certifications

Schedule and location

Full-time, on-site, day shift 4:00 am - 12:30 pm, 7:00 am -3:00 pm. 100% local routes — no overnight travel; you start and end each shift at the Richmond facility.
