Job Description
Position Summary
The Service Cashier is responsible for processing guest payments, handling cash and credit transactions, and providing administrative support within the service and parts departments. This role ensures accurate billing, excellent guest service, and efficient financial transaction processing while maintaining dealership accounting and cash-handling standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, trustworthy, and customer-focused.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process guest payments for service and parts transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit card, and electronic payment transactions in accordance with dealership policies.
- Prepare daily cash reports and balance receipts at the end of each shift.
- Issue receipts, invoices, and change to customers as needed.
- Assist guests with billing questions and payment-related inquiries.
- Coordinate with service advisors and parts staff to ensure accurate transaction documentation.
- Maintain organized records of daily transactions and financial documents.
- Reconcile cash drawer and report discrepancies to management immediately.
- Support warranty, insurance, and internal billing processes as required.
- Assist with answering phones and directing guest inquiries when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized cashier workstation and customer waiting area.
- Follow all dealership accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Assist with administrative duties in service and parts departments as needed.
- Provide excellent guest service in all interactions.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling money and records.
- Excellent guest service and communication skills.
- Basic math and cash-handling abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale system proficiency.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

- Ability to multitask effectively.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior cashier, retail, or guest service experience preferred.
- Automotive dealership or service department experience is a plus.
- Basic accounting or bookkeeping knowledge preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting and standing throughout the workday.
- Ability to use hands for cash handling, typing, and data entry.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Visual ability to process financial documents and computer screens.
Work Environment
Fast-paced automotive dealership service and parts department environment with frequent guest interaction and high-volume transaction processing. Work is primarily performed at a cashier counter or service desk with moderate noise levels and occasional extended hours during peak service periods.
