Position Statement: Under general direction, cleans all areas of the hospital by performing routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors. Demonstrate ability to utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure. Reports to the Supervisor, Materials Management/Housekeeping/Laundry. The Environmental Services (EVS) housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the North Country Hospital environment in a clean and safe manner consistent with standards established by Administration in conjunction with the Infection Control and Safety Committees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean all areas in the hospital including walls, vents , furniture.
- Cover all areas including off site buildings when needed.
- Participate in all training and meetings.
- Transport medical waste to med waste room and put in proper storage containers.
- Wear proper PPE when cleaning any room especially pre caution rooms.
- Pick up linen from floors and help in laundry when needed.
- Follows Hazardous waste training for clean-up of spills.
- Follows EVS Policy for cleaning procedures and completes AHA CHEST training
- Serve as an active team member by having flexibility, a positive attitude and a productive approach to work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school education or equivalent is not required, but one must be able to read, understand written documents and write.
- Ability to read housekeeping schedules and follow oral directions.
- After training, be able to work independently with little supervision.
- Prior EVS experience in a Healthcare Facility preferred but not required.
- Strong inter-personal skills are necessary.
- Ability to have consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to be a team player and shift priorities as needed.
